The best lever we have to help curb climate change is to mitigate methane emissions.

“Bitcoin uses too much energy,” has become the new “immigrants are taking our jobs”: the incantation of vested interests and the hoodwinked who, wittingly or unwittingly, stoke the fires of populism with sound bites over sound analysis.

Saying Bitcoin mining can't go carbon negative because there isn't enough mining happening today via methane sources is like saying in 1885 that lights will never transition from kerosene or whale oil.

Bitcoin mining is a tool to scalably mitigate methane, and provides a basecamp on the road to a renewable energy future.

EPA is poised to crack down on landfills too. Mitigation plans will be required or federal plans will be imposed on smaller landfills to capture/flare methane. Key Q: will municipalities/landfill companies monetize methane or just eat the cost of flaring?.
