Today, Sismo returned funds to its investors. We shipped fast, solved hard problems and built a great community. Yet, our pace was unsustainable, we sprinted a marathon. I'm proud of the battle we fought and the way we did it, with full engagement and passion. (thread).

3/ My cofounders. What fuelled my energy was spending time with @leo21_eth and @CharlsCharls_. Greatest work ethics I've ever encountered. Some of the most brilliant yet humble people you'll meet. They made my adventure beautiful.

2/ The investors. We raised $10.5m (returned 51%) from 130 investors, likely one of the best builder rounds ever. They helped me with sound advice, never short-term oriented. So grateful for their support to the very end when they had nothing to gain. Tells a lot.

1/ The team. You've met them at events, they are remarkable individuals with a growth mindset, a care for details, and a sense of team play. They will keep having impact whatever they do. Thankful for their hard work and trust 💜. 👉 DM for contacts and resumes.

The new hard challenge in crypto:. Race to reach mainstream (really soon addressable) without losing resiliency. Addressable market used to care about decentralization. No longer. Still need it when you need it, else you are irrelevant.
TL;DR:. 1. Move the one thing that everybody uses to understand what happens onchain, the contract log data, off-chain.2. To a closed source indexer.3. Centrally hosted and queried via a (for now) free API .4. Company raises $9M. Doesn't take a genius to see where this is going.

When you see the rise of consumer crypto, it’s easy to see how CT influence over the industry will decrease, like bitcoin maxis’ has. Influence will migrate to those serving actuels users.
A friend secretly built a consumer dapp in past 12 months, raised ZERO VC money, only 3 engineers including himself. Now has over 7milo download and over 1m weekly active, 99% of their users are first time wallet users from MENA/India. apparently none of “crypto” ppl heard abt it
