Im curious @elainaplott as to why the choice was made to leave out that between 2/3 and 3/4 of Canadians are supportive of this. I read the outrage of Americans on this, but we too are a democracy, and we decide our course, not you or your fellow citizens.

Canada gave its citizens the right to die. Ten years later, doctors are struggling to keep up with the demand. My story for the September issue of @TheAtlantic:

The party sharks - have lawyers on speed dial. Each ballot is shown to each of them by elections officials and tallied. If the sharks object - it gets escalated and adjudicated. There is no opportunity for your vote to be changed. If someone tried that party’s shark would bite.

I am enjoying what I will call pencil-gate. All of this discussion of @ElectionsCan_E and their famous pencils. It’s funny because you can use a crayon if it suits you - so long as your intent is clear. Also. When that box gets opened? There are 3/4 party sharks 1/2

That would have been the approach. Especially when you are, as the United States is, the less prepared party. China has legions of smart folks who have gamed this out over and over again - they know their response, their stimulus, their leverage (they can tank Us debt)

More market turmoil - an escalation with China. Considering that nobody can deliver the same message on tariffs from the US administration - it’s clear this is one fight they’re not ready for. Their grievances on unfair trade practices are real and a 20/30% with negotiation

We the people - as in a fearless young lady from Centretown had to go to court and get an injunction to stop the honking. The organizers had no regard for us - they took our freedom and rights away for 3 weeks. They don’t believe in freedom they’re anarchists.

We got to experience convoy fireworks - literal fireworks in the core. When I cleaned my deck there was that much diesel gunk on everything - it was a mess. The city was a mess the 10s of thousands of people who call Centretown home - were not even a thought for the organizers.

A lot of talk about the “Freedom Convoy” verdict. As a resident of central Ottawa - my home became unlivable for both the smell of diesel and honking 24/7. I couldn’t call people because all they would hear was honking. For 3 weeks. Neighbours were scared to walk to the store.

You can’t make this up. Tariffs on Christmas Island, Svalbard, the Falklands, St Pierre & Miquelon and Heard and MacDonald Islands. That’s going to generate billions and billions - just kidding their combined population is possibly 15,000 in the later case - zero.

This is no solution. I’d suggest legalizing long term law abiding adults - vs compromising children’s education is the better solution. Surely that’s better than your teenager falling asleep in Math class because they worked a night shift.

In light of all of the tariff talk - I would highlight some great innovative companies. I know many of these firms - and their innovations which, if fostered will unlock new industries and new markets. How do you beat a Tariff? Innovation.

Right on! @cathmckenna our answer must be no. We have other trade agreements - we can, should, and will open other markets.

It’s strange that some folks are so annoyed with the idea that you are either with Team Canada or not. It’s about how you negotiate with a bully & exert maximum pressure to get the outcome we all presumably want. If Trump’s able to divide and conquer us, we definitely lose.

https://t.co/bncclRp3vL The US has a policy where you don’t negotiate with terrorists or pay ransom. President Trump is using Tariffs to hold us at ransom. Frankly Drouin is right - let’s control what we can - ourselves. Now is not the time to pay the ransom.

So lesson. Tariffs are bad. The Dow had a fit and crashed. President Trump called a Canadian govt initiative around the border launched in December a win and used this as an off-ramp. Now can the US stop the gun smuggling?

As Canadians we can not afford to let the opportunity presented by these tariffs pass us by. We can finally deal with our internal trade barriers. Fun fact they cost us more than these new tariffs. Play our cards right we come out of this stronger

I am singing “together, we will win” in my head every day. I invite you to do the same. Today was hard. To see crowds deceived by far right groups weaponizing misinformation and fear against 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. But our joy shines through. Our hopes and dreams shine through.
