You know you can build software companies yourself without taking money from investors who don’t do the building but take your equity.

True face of VC fundings. "The investors made $25M on a $10M investment while the founding team who built the company made just $1.7M each before taxes.". after 5 years they would have made from working as an employee. Keep bootstrapping, fam! 💪

Just remember that every time you see someone claim something like: . “We spent $1M on Google Ads for this client and got $4M back”. They are almost always including spend on branded terms. Strip that out and the numbers look a whoooole lot different.

💯. Also you don’t just “make an app” and it’s done. There’s constant fixes, maintenance. Very worth it to pay $50/m or $500/m or even $5000/m to jot have to worry about that.

“Everyone is going to make their own apps with AI”. My friend you don’t even make your own food. You’ll still pay a few bucks to use an app.

Good luck getting your analytics tool to attribute this lead correctly. Your best attribution method is to always ask your best leads where they hard about you. We do this twice. Once on our lead form which you see here and again on the call.

If you're wondering what's wrong with this or how to not do this in your own content, I wrote about this years ago:

Here's a full video interview with Katelyn on that process where she walks through each step and shows her chats with the AI tools: Also on Apple Podcasts and Spotify (but you'll want video for this episode).

In then it produced an okay piece, which Katelyn on our team who did all this work sent to me and I edited (a decent amount i would say). Did it save us time? Hell no. But most people's writing demands aren't as strict as ours.

Then, we built an outline off of those exports and took that Notebook LM generated outline to Claude and asked Claude to write the piece. It was. meh. So then we asked it to write section by section and that was better. We clarified things, got Claude to edit itself.

We fed it a bunch of our YouTube videos on our SEO strategy( and articles ( and then asked it to create summaries of different aspects of our strategy that are relevant for the "category keywords" discussion.

So for that we used NotebookLM (. It's not a popular tool in the marketing world. It seems to have been built by Google for students and researchers to summarize and understand a body of work. So exactly what we needed.

We wanted AI to first understand as much of our beliefs in content and SEO as possible. That context is essential to being able to relay *our* perspective on category keywords. It's borderline impossible to relay G&C's perspective on "category keywords" without this.

We went after the term "category keywords" which is a bottom of funnel keyword for us and abides by Pain Point SEO:
