Very thankful to @owocki to be invited as a cohost for the annual "state of public goods" discussion with @VitalikButerin it was honestly a test of my mental fortitude & stamina to be top of my game for all 1.5 hours 😅 I've scratched out 5 key points from the long episode;

NEW POD @vitalikbuterin on the @greenpillnet podcast for a year-end deep dive into public goods funding in the @Ethereum ecosystem. Thx @devanshmehta for co-hosting. We discuss how the landscape has shifted from “vibes-based” funding to verifiable, dependency-driven

day 2 was technical sessions, jotted down 3 points around - solana as a developer platform - killer vs truthseeking instincts - trading innovations we should be keeping on top of (1) I was surprised to hear almost nothing around zero knowledge proofs or privacy at breakpoint,

Some early impressions from solana breakpoint > It's much more commercial in feel then devcon, with sponsors branding even the stairs to go up and down 😅 esp tragic was how outside the event some team hired people with billboards strapped to their back 😢 Similarly many talks

as the money-printer hums back to life, the dollar is increasingly decoupling from reality. there's just too much cash sloshing around in search of returns, terrified of being inflated away meanwhile the "real economy" (the teachers and nurses and car detailers) is running on

back from solana breakpoint with some thoughts the talks felt more like product pitches than technical deep dives. i kept waiting for the “how” and “why” but got a lot of “what we’re launching.” not saying every talk needs to be a whiteboard session but i missed the technical

Great points! To add: 1/ the opening talk was very well structured giving an: (i) overview of Solana over the year (key ecosystem highlights). This gave way to the (ii) theme of this year 'Returns & Revenue'. (iii) learnings from organizing Breakpoint vis-a-vis the year before

This episode was a fun one 👀 me & @satyaki44 sat down with @devanshmehta from the @ethereumfndn, someone whose journey into web3 is anything but typical. He actually started out as a journalist, then jumped into the Next Billion Fellowship before eventually finding his way

I'm generally starting to see 2 camps in Ethereum land > Values don't matter unless you can add value > Adding value is senseless if we haven't retained our values (I'm sympathetic to both sides, trying to bridge both camps) On a purely pragmatic level, if we don't retain our

There’s something special about an in-person team gathering. As someone who has worked remotely since the very beginning, I felt like I connected so much better with my team after @EFDevcon and can now collaborate way better than before.

doing a “year end 2025” Ethereum public goods funding podcast today the goal is to guide builders towards what to focus on in 2026. what should we tap about? what hard lessons are we learning? what do we need to stop/start/continue doing?

Totally agree that claims of DAOs or decentralization being dead are overblown. We're just in the phase of realising direct democracy isnt the best form of government DAO is simply tokenholders should have final control & code should be the enforcer & judiciary

DAOs are dead because they were never alive. What we called DAOs were mostly an attempt at regulatory arbitrage over the "Common Enterprise" aspect of the Howey test. The industry swung the pendulum too hard and created something shitty. When they were created with this goal in
