Proud to lead the men & women of VFRS; a dedicated & professional team who are committed to the fire & life safety of those who work, live & play in the City of Vaughan. Our philosophy of operations is providing citizens with what they need, when they need it…always.
Fire engines have about 5 minutes of water on-board. That's 5 minutes to locate your hydrant in a snowdrift, dig it out, and hook up supply hoses before the truck runs out of water. This is all happening while your house is burning down. Help US help YOU by clearing your hydrant.
Incredibly high heat conditions at the structure fire on Starfield Cres - melting visors on FF helmets. An aggressive firefight. 6 children transported to hospital incl. neonate. Amazing bravery of an 18 yr old who climbed up on the roof to help two children escape from 2nd floor
On behalf of Mississauga Fire, I extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the family, friends and all those impacted by the tragic fatal fire on Clark Blvd. Our thoughts are also with the firefighters, paramedics and police on scene and our JFCC communication operators.

We’re excited to introduce the newest addition to our fleet, a 100 ft platform; featuring independent front suspension & capable of flowing 8,000L/min from the tower. This truck will be an asset for community safety in our Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and surrounding communities.
8 years ago today, a powerful explosion at a warehouse came without warning injuring a group of Mississauga firefighters who had attempted to enter and were trapped due to a collapsed wall. Our thoughts are with the firefighters who responded & to those who continue to recover.
3 years ago I met Emily when I taught a course at York University. She was a firecracker 🧨 and I encouraged her to attend our firefighter camp. Emily was hooked and her career path altered. I am pleased to share she has been accepted as the newest Firemedic in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
Captain Ogg has made a recommendation for the Fire Chief’s Commendation Award, which I fully support. These three will be acknowledged and recognized for their quick action and bravery, risking their own personal safety for another.
Interior conditions became untenable - requiring firefighters to transition from an offensive to a defensive strategy using 4 aerial devices and a deck gun. A great effort by our Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services team.

Only weeks ago I walked in and out of the hospital with my heart aching and profound sadness as I said my final goodbyes.
Please leave our hospitals alone. They are not a place for protesting.
This week our dad passed away and my heart broke. He provided us with support and love which gave us a healthy sense of who we are and the confidence to develop our interests. Our dad made a world of difference in our lives and we will truly miss him.
I remember dressing my little girls for Christmas Eve dinner and then driving to night shift. Our platoon worked every major holiday for five years straight. It was an incredible stress on a young family & I recognize the sacrifice all firefighters make over the holiday season.

An incredible team effort with a positive outcome we all hoped/prayed for. Great work by our firefighters. Thanks to our allied agencies; Peel Regional Police, Peel Paramedics and our City of Mississauga Works department - who all attended the scene.
Good luck to Firefighter Lancaster and the Canadian Indoor Field Hockey Team who are in Pennsylvania competing at the 2022 World Cup Qualifying Tournament. Firefighter Lancaster has been training with the squad and preparing for this tournament for many years. Go team Canada 🇨🇦!!

I’d like to be able to say that now that I’m 45, I have it all figured out. But I don’t. I still have dreams I want to achieve, goals on my list, and complicated questions about life decisions. I’m grateful for the path my life has taken and what I have learned along the way.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the frontline responders in Australia who are bravely battling the ongoing fires and keeping communities and residents safe.
Ummmm... thank you, I think?!?! Came back to my office to find our recruits have been up to some shenanigans. It’s a sure sign that they are ready for the trucks. Their last day in the training division is Friday. 😅 Good luck Captains, soon they are all yours!
After 32 years serving our City, I say goodbye to “Soupy,” - a friend and colleague. I fondly remember working on the trucks side by side for years; as well as our car-pool 🚘 escapades. To the reigning champion of “stump the chump” trivia - you will be missed. Happy retirement!
When things go sideways on the fire-ground, nobody cares about obscure facts from text books. Revert back to your practical training. Don’t train until you get it right; train until you can’t get it wrong.

Incredible rescue by Captain Skare and the crew from FS 110 in what became untenable fire conditions within the structure (video taken prior to a person being rescued). Firefighters used aggressive fire tactics to knock down the fire and prevented fire extension to exposures.
A big thank-you to all our firefighters who are away from their families working, so they can keep our community safe, responding to those in their time of need over the holiday season. Your dedication to public service through yet another wave of COVID, is very much appreciated.
We are proud to announce the opening of a new fire station. Located at 835 Nashville Road, Fire Station 7-4 is Vaughan’s 10th station, and it brings vital emergency services closer to home for the Kleinburg community.
We are thrilled to announce that Steve Kraft will be joining Mississauga Fire as a Platoon Chief.
He has over 32 years of experience in the fire service, 10 years as Fire Chief with Richmond Hill. We look forward to him joining the team!
Today, we honour all firefighters across Canada for their sacrifice, dedication, and bravery - particularly those who have fallen. Let us take a moment to remember those who lost their lives while protecting our communities.

Is there anything she can’t handle?
She’s been broken. She’s been knocked down. She’s been defeated. She’s felt pain. She looks fear in the face, but yet, she never runs. She never hides. And she ALWAYS finds a way to get back up. She’s unbreakable. She’s a warrior.
