Our firefighters were awarded with the Fire Chief’s Certificate of Recognition for saving a man at a structure fire who was hanging out of a 2nd floor window. He was combative & removed the face mask of the rescuer. We extend our appreciation for their professional response.

On April 24, 1978, Firefighter James Fraser recovered a lifeless five-year-old child from the bottom of an unopened swimming pool. The child survived and FF Fraser received the Firefighter of the Year Award.

Kevin Towels stepped forward to help a fellow citizen during a fire in March of 2019 prior to the arrival of fire crews. He caught a child that was dropped from a 2nd floor window. For his selfless act to fellow citizen he was presented with the Fire Chief’s Civilian Citation.
WORLD RECORD SET BY MISSISSAUGA FIREFIGHTER: Chris Cox sets fitness world record for Turkish get-ups. Firefighter Cox is very passionate about fitness and works out several times a week to remain effective at his job.
Acquired structure training: when a house/building is listed for demolition we approach the owner or contractor to see if we can conduct destructive or non-destructive training prior to the building being taken down. It allows firefighters realistic scenario based training.
Today District Chief Mark Train works his last shift. He will retire with more than 36 years of service with MFES. He’s had a positive impact on many people and will be a greatly missed colleague, mentor and friend. We wish Mark all the best for a long and healthy retirement.

Firefighters assisted a raccoon wandering around Derry Road and then went into seizure. Oxygen was administered. Animal Services said seizures are becoming common with raccoons.
Today we officially opened station 120 to the public. The new station, located at 125 Eglinton Ave. W. beside the new Fairwinds Park, is Mississauga’s 22nd fire station, and first to be built since 2003. Five more will be added by 2033 to increase the number to 27.
We are pleased to present Chris Pretty with a yellow helmet to recognize his promotion to Captain. Best wishes to Chris as he takes on this new career challenge. Congratulations!

It has been 42 years since the Mississauga Miracle! It was the largest evacuation in Canadian history, with no loss of life. The cause was an improperly lubricated wheel bearing, and prompted significant changes to railway procedures and hazardous materials identification.

We are very proud of MFES Firefighter Kelly S. for winning 2 silver medals at The Can-Am Police-Fire Games in Windsor. With over 800+ law enforcement, fire service and E.M.S participants covering 40 different events, Kelly participated in Bench Press and Powerlifting. 👏 🏅

You may have seen a few fluorescent helmets bobbing in the water if you were down by the lake. Our firefighters have been busy practicing our water rescue skills.
Live Bait Pick-Off Using a Rescue Dive Entry: Entering the water to grab a swimmer, while tethered to shore by a rope attached to a quick-release rescue belt, is a very effective water rescue technique.
