Especially when it comes to malpractice through omission. People can easily fall for misinformation about vaccines and 5g and all that but when people with nothing to gain from masking are telling everyone that the risks to not masking are catching an oncogenic virus…

I don’t understand how people can so easily understand medical racism and public health malpractice in the case of birth control side effects, but not when it comes to COVID and viruses which are so much more widespread.

I also think that public health communication needs to improve to account for very valid historical and ongoing concerns. We need more midwives. We need to flood more money into programs for midwives and NPs from racialized backgrounds.

I really would like to know the socioeconomic class of the people prescribed this form of birth control. I’m assuming that the statistics reflect socioeconomic conditions.
In case you haven’t heard: Women are suing Pfizer in a class action lawsuit because the birth control shots (Depo-Provera) have been found to cause brain tumors. 1 in 4 women use this birth control. And Black women are prescribed it at double the national rate.

@leahfrombklyn Eugenics dressed up as birth control in the medical field. They push it to Black women for a reason. I've never met a white woman on Depo but I know they don't offer it to them & I was told this by a female physician. It is dangerous.

a gender role i’ll always subscribe to, is being able to physically carry whoever i’m dating. it’s a different type of care of security it instills in the dynamic. not necessary for everyone but i mainly think of emergencies too or moving them out of harm’s way.
