This is so you can understand that every critique you have about Nobara can be justified through understanding the nature and context of both her technique and her morality. It’s the key difference in viewing her as a 6/10 and a 10/10. Truly, one of shonen’s greatest.

Gege inverted gender politics in a way nobody understands, and that’s why they critique it so much. Gege couldn’t spend the entire series on Nobara, so he weaponised the ushi no toki mairi’s necessity for anonymity and, intertwining that with her need for autonomy, did so.

Gege took a folklore designed for women who had zero power or authority and gave it to a woman with total control over her identity, not consumed over jealousy and inflicting it evilly on a loved one, but heroically on the final antagonist, who is the embodiment of curses.
