Another parallax test in 2D level editor, this time using Nuclear Blaze tileset. Simply painting on one layer generates all the content in all layers at once, thanks to "auto-layer rules", making level design super quick & easy.

About 2yrs ago, I started a small jam game for my kids. It was about a tiny firefighter battling blazes in a mysterious SCP facility. Today, Nuclear Blaze is being released on Switch, PS4 and Xbox! I still can't believe it. Thank you every one for your truly amazing support <3

LDtk level editor 1.3 offers tons of quality of life improvements and it's still free :) For example, you can achieve a typical top-down scene (usually fairly complex), with a very simple tileset, using the new capabilities.

Sheepy is hands down one of the best experiences I've had in years. It cleverly alternates between peaceful exploration, moments of tension, and epic sceneries. It went straight from being an unknown game to one of my favorite titles ever.

Next version of LDtk () will support "references" between game objects (like a "Button" connected to some "Door"). Combine that with the new ability to stack levels very easily, and you get a really fun level design experience 🍹
The new assistant coming in level editor update 1.2.0 will make the auto-tiles rules generation a breeze. These rules can automate the process of drawing your tiles based on your actual data.

Nuclear Blaze "NewGame+" will affect all levels a LOT, adding new threats, areas and items. Like this stupid automated canon that prevents you from doing your actual job. You know, saving cats. Expect this (free) update to land real soon!

About 30yrs ago, I wrote some Dungeon Master engine on Atari ST. Today, I'm back at it :) Note: from a technical point of view, there's no 3D here, just old-school techniques to get the visuals I have in my head.
LDtk level editor 1.0 should be available real soon! It's a massive update with hundreds of changes. One nice thing from this update will be the big performance boost in "rules based" painting.
