These strange columns were the “result of frigid water from melting snow seeping down into volcanic ash creating tiny holes in the hot ash, the byproduct being boiling water and steam, which then rose up, creating convection cells, which later filled with minerals.”

I finished my 11.11 mile hike and fled to Wawona for the night. The next day, I went back into the park and it was transformed into a beautiful winter wonderland. I nearly had the entire park to myself! A magical adventure indeed. (2of2).

Lake Manly — the lake that’s not normally here but formed as a result of the excess rainfall from Hurricane Hilary. It sits on top of Badwater Basin which is the lowest point in North America at 282 ft below sea level. Windy but stunning!

= a beautiful hike 🥾along a babbling brook that leads to a bridge that leads to nowhere. It’s ~11 miles out and back. The random bridge is surrounded by national forest but the bridge itself is on private property and offers bungee jumping. 🤷🏻♀️
