The vacancy rate for industrial real estate is still really low, in part because retailers have accumulated excess inventories over the past 6 months: https://t.co/4B2YbV6RnL

I didn’t realize I grew up in the demilitarized zone of lightning bug / firefly name conventions (Northern NJ). I do recall being familiar with both terms, so I guess that makes sense.

I didn't realize that calling them fireflies was mostly a western U.S. thing. That is what I call them. https://t.co/ZItG89Y7JJ

Except "many" is not true. Nationally, 50% of vacancy is in 5% of buildings and 80% in 15% respectively. *Most* buildings are just fine. #office #cre #realestate

CBDs across the country are full of office buildings constructed under a late-20th-century philosophy of business culture and space usage. After COVID, many are now struggling to fill vacancies. What comes next? (via @commobserver) https://t.co/gFvyk98EeI

Some space gets repurposed into other uses. And, lots of office jobs growth creates new demand for workspace over the next decade. (Oh, and flexible office probably grows in demand too.)

What happens to all that office space? It varies. High quality space continues to be in demand. Used to bring people together, to be productive with colleagues, to build culture and connection.

#CPI #inflation down due to #energy, primarily. Food/#housing continues to go up. Supply chains/reopening down. August could see another month of energy declines - #gas #prices are finally under $4 in #NOVA...(not saying this will last but could help the next CPI report).

I know there is a lot of focus on large retailers' excess inventory (eg, Target, Walmart) but...the ratios are still pretty low economy-wide. Definitely expect them to rise as goods sales slow, but we also don't have a huge wave of stuff headed here from APAC. What am I missing?
