My first BT novel “I Am Jade Falcon” is superb, and it, along with its sequels, led to my official canonical story “Sackcloth and Sand”, in Shrapnel issue 4. I’m still happy with how it turned out, and have been working on a follow-up.

After enjoying goofy Jade Falcons of the cartoon I read Thurston’s JF novels and I was enamoured by the alien, post-post-apocalyptic brave-new-world/chrysalids struggles of damaged people in a terrible world that represses humanity, daring them to find their soul. Them or GDL 😝.

IS XLs are deathtraps. Sometimes worth it to squeeze out extra DPS in lights and mediums, but heavies don't need them and assaults will never truly benefit from all the lost crit slots unless they're faster than they ought to be.
