My latest: The newly enacted climate bill offers generous rebates to decarbonize your home. But upgrading a house’s electrical system for solar panels, electric car chargers & heat pumps is expensive. Here's ways to lower the costs. https://t.co/C5Pgr2zmNi via @business @climate

@ezraklein One stab: if Greek tragedy is the expression of the worldview that things are fated and fixed, multiverse/alt self stories are an expression of a worldview of deep contingency in the shape of your life.

Majority rule and greater political equality — what Mike Lee called “rank democracy” — are the solutions to the extremism and instability engendered by minority rule.

In emotional recounting, Rep. Jamie Raskin says members of his family hid under a desk during the Capitol siege, "placing what they thought were their final texts and whispered phone calls to say their goodbyes. They thought they were going to die." https://t.co/Lau7kmD368

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to @alexismadrigal and the @COVID19Tracking team. We'd be flying much blinder during this pandemic if not for them. We @KFF have benefited from their data and will continue tracking everything we can. https://t.co/0GdAKgm1dB

Most elements of Joe Biden's Covid-19 plan "are surprising only because they are not already happening," @ezraklein writes. "All of this should’ve been done months ago."

It is infuriating that the Trump administration left so many of these things undone.

This. To the "our institutions are resilient" crowd: The Republican Party is an institution! One of our most important. One of our most powerful. And it is not resilient. It's a catastrophe. And it stretches across all our other institutions, and controls many of them.

What wake-up call do folks need? Are we going to argue that our institutions are resilient until they do succeed in throwing out elections? They walked into a building riddled with bullet holes where people had died trying to storm it and voted to overthrow the election anyway.

This column is basically a long list of thank you’s to the coalition and organizers that made this win possible. And what a list! This election represents a shared victory, an intense relief, and, yet, only the beginning of the work that needs to be done.

“Donald Trump, the worst President in American history, has been fired,” @billmckibben writes. “Seventy-five or eighty million voters made that decision, and millions of people worked incredibly hard to insure that they did.”

This ? comes up often on EP hotline: if you’re in line by the time your polling place closes—even if the line is super long—you can still vote. Polling places *have to* stay open until the last voter in line by closing time has cast their vote. Call 866-our-vote if any issues

Donald Trump deserves to lose this election, and to lose it by more than he will. He has governed cruelly, and he has governed poorly. Our disagreements are real, but there should be basic moral standards and professional expectations for our leaders, and he is beneath them.

For Page not to demand Pence actually answer her question on the peaceful transfer of power is a terrible failure of moderating. It was a good question, and it needs to be answered. The moderator needs to be, on some level, the audience's champion.
