It was fascinating how Hansen got over much more for losing.
I have always found it fascinated that Terry Gordy refused to job to Hogan, but Hansen, a bigger star, was willing to. In hindsight it didn't hurt Hansen and I am sure he got a great payday. Gordy was a notch below Stan in hierarchy so I can see him being cautious to lose aura.

Enough for 60 million viewers and peaking in the last minutes at more than 72 million.
@kobashi100 @davemeltzerWON In 1963 though. There weren't as many TVs in homes back then.

Check the issue that covered the show.
@davemeltzerWON What rating did Hashimoto vs Naoya Ogawa do Dave? I read that it hit a 24.0 rating which would translate to 34 million viewers. That's an insane number if true.

64.0 percent. Thesz vs. Rikidozan had 87.5% but TV was in its infancy in Japan in 1957.
@Rockminet @davemeltzerWON That Rikidozan vs The Destroyer had 87% of Japanese homes with TVs watching. Just think about that for a minute and how mind blowing that TV number is. Literally double the viewing numbers of Hogan vs Andre.

Yes, talent wise one of the best heel stables.
@davemeltzerWON I have a question Dave. Seeing the talent in the DCF, is this one of the best stables in current times and in the history of pro wrestling in your opinion ?.

Yes more than 40 million.
@davemeltzerWON Toyonobori had a Destroyer match that did a monster draw too if I remember right?.

Doubtful anyone will again. But Destroyer vs. Rikidozan did 60 million and Ali vs. Inoki did a huge number worldwide. Lots of 60s Japanese wrestling, Toyonobori vs. Blassie, Baba vs. Crusher did giant numbers.
@davemeltzerWON NOBODY has ever drawn 32 million viewers for one match. Hulk Hogan did. And probably no one will ever come close to that again.
