Dear Safing Community, after a while of discussing, we founders concluded that we have different views. As a result I have stepped down from all my roles and am leaving Safing. I look forward to the future of the company. David

Snowden could not stop these programs, but his revelations made it impossible to continue looking the other way. He still changed the world. He changed our perception. https://t.co/qMbyHfG1Os

You are holding Julian Assange in a dungeon for exercising the freedom of expression you so ardently claim to defend. How about decriminalizing it at home before you take to a podium and point your finger abroad?
.@StateDeptSpox: "We've made consistently clear to Saudi authorities that freedom of expression should never be criminalized. The exercise of the universal right like freedom of expression should never be criminalized."

The fact that is considered legal for a corporation to compile perfect records of your private life simply because you had to "click OK to continue" to make your phone work is a perfect expression of who holds the power in society and why they should be cast into the sea.

one of the most hopeful threads I've seen in a while many things point towards FB (finally) going down ๐
I hated Facebook from the start and couldn't wait for it to die. That was a pretty reasonable thing to expect. After all, I'd watched social networks from Sixdegrees on crash and burn as the network effects that drove their growth also drove their precipitous collapse. 1/

Canโt believe some countries are so evil that they imprison or otherwise punish people for the crime of โworking to shine a light on official corruption.โ Sec. Blinken must be furious about this. He should call Julian Assange in prison and @Snowden in exile to vent.
.@Navalny and his associates are targeted for their work to shine a light on official corruption. This time, he goes to trial in a penal colony, out of public view. Russian authorities should release Aleksey Navalny and end their harassment and prosecution of his supporters.

I'll be sitting down with @davegson and @dehaavi from @SafingIO to chat about Portmaster, their cross-platform application firewall and it's implications for privacy, on Sunday! What questions do you all have for them? You can learn more here: https://t.co/wHPxj6fdc1

Big Tech & their lobbyists want people to think that a ban on surveillance advertising is the same as a ban on *all* advertising. But that's simply not the case. Surveillance advertising is just *one* way companies can advertise their services/products. 1/5

This should be all over the front pages. The government's terminating our right to protest, through amendments sneaked into the Police Bill at the last minute. It's the biggest assault on democracy in 70+ years, and hardly anyone seems to know. My column https://t.co/UO1ulGghgy

The governmentโs back-door amendments to the policing bill are tyrannical. We should be on the streets in our millions, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

My grandparents have been making this point for decades, but about cars - they were comfortable fixing their own car, or at least understanding what was wrong, for decades on decades - that stopped being the case as more was locked behind proprietary interfaces.
