“We have never had the president of the United States call a state legislature .... with such immense power determined to cheat their way into holding onto it through sheer fear." David Daley's masterpiece on the gerrymander apocalypse in @newrepublic https://t.co/KbUs4DpQmr.

Political insiders, GOP legislators and governors, the president, even the Supreme Court—they’re all in on the flagrantly unconstitutional conspiracy to destroy democracy by the way they draw lines...

Stop blaming poor Elbridge Gerry. He didn't do this. John Roberts did. Let's name it after him. It's Robertsmandering now. https://t.co/25VC0t2nni

Time to stop calling it gerrymandering. This is Robertsmandering. Let's call what it is -- leave the governor from 200 years ago out of it, and identify the chief justice as the man to blame. https://t.co/25VC0t2nni

Also something I pointed out in Ratf**ked while driving every district boundary of Michigan's 14th. Glad there's now scholarship. It was very apparent to the eye that specific firms, attractions, and stadiums were quite obviously just on the other side of the line.

Single member legislative districts are just such a bad system, especially when parties are polarized (i.e., in any modern political system) Forthcoming APSR shows firms, not just voters, are gerrymandered into/out of districts for partisan gain link in reply (musk algo wack)

If Florida had an undercount that was absolutely the fault of the DeSantis administration - which for months said it would play no role in the Census count, and then in Jan 2020, scrambled to do outreach with little preparation. Three months later, COVID.

After saying initially and emphatically that the state doesn’t have a role in the census process — “The federal government does that” — Gov. Ron DeSantis s announced Florida would help after all.
