I decided to restart my ecological stats blog posts. Check out this new one on why you should probably stop using the number of survey days as a covariate in occupancy models. Check it out! https://t.co/JF83LLKpdD

Türkiye'deki bozayı inlerinin ilk araştırmasını yayınladık. Dünya literatüründe ilk kez, Kars'taki bazı bozayıların inlerinde ayrı bir tuvalet odası olduğunu keşfettik. Kars'ın ayıları hijyene önem veriyor! Brown bear denning habits in northeastern Türkiye

"You people are killing the pups because of disturbing the den.” This was a comment we got earlier this week, and we get similar criticisms almost every time we post information about tagging pups at dens. So then the question is: are we actually killing pups by visiting dens?

Need a relative abundance map for North American Mammals? We created 25 of them as part of our recent paper, I'll share them here, might be useful as a covariate for your own work. LMK what you think. - here's American Black Bear https://t.co/exxufQnbzB

Wolf reintroduction on Isle Royale in Lake Superior has affected the communities of smaller carnivores. Researchers used three years of data covering the time before and after wolf reintroduction, to better understand behavior and range changes.

Excited to share our new paper on boreal mammal spatial networks in industrializing landscapes! https://t.co/yeYo09QuXx We explored how disturbance effects emerge through direct responses and species interactions. Thanks to @wildco_lab at @UBC , @cole_burton, and collaborators

I'm excited to share the first publication using GPS collars from #wolves in Turkiye (and the first published chapter of my PhD)! We found that although human activity varied significantly between seasons, wolves modified only their activity, not their home range!

🚨We need a field tech! One got into grad school (yay!) so leaving the project early (sad). Help us eval the efficacy of range riding to reduce carnivore conflicts. Work with ranchers, riders, academics, NGOs, & more in gorgeous places in the western US. DM/email for details.

Our study highlights complexity of animal behaviours, and that there are no silver bullets for coexistence. It's clear animals are working hard to adapt to our ever-expanding presence, and we need to do our part to ensure we can keep sharing space with the wildlife we cherish..8/
