We need to be donating to the Steven Brown for D1 campaign https://t.co/wOjctH9U0K The race is wide open with Natasha Harper Madison retiring You might remember Steven from the viral prop Q debate. He is a great no nonsense communicator!

So the new Austin city council expense policy allows members to accept gifts of tickets but only if the gift is ’not intended to influence’ How is this supposed to be followed or enforced? How do you know the heart of the giver? Isn’t a track pass like this $10k+? Is it ok?

Very underrated imo, one of the highest T democrats. Uniquely able to go after Kamala when others will defer. Would get basically infinite unearned media like trump in 2015

🚨Breaking: @GregAbbott_TX announces legislation for a Chief State Prosecutor, and notes that @JosePGarza is getting Texans killed.
I am calling for legislation that creates a Chief State Prosecutor to actually prosecute criminals like this that DAs in places like Austin refuse to prosecute. Progressive DAs are literally leading to the murder of Texans. Those DAs must be held accountable and prosecutorial

If you enjoy valeting your car downtown , you might want to comment about that on this survey Lately, I’ve been hearing activists fighting against valets as a ‘privileged’ use of public resources ( curbside )
⏳ Survey closes January 25, 2026 Austin is developing a comprehensive Curbside Management Plan to address the demands on curb space. Find the survey at https://t.co/cvKTsDdU3Z

I must make a correction to my previous story about the college outcomes data not including out of state Kendall has more details Interesting data!
@data_atx It does track out-of-state enrollment and degree attainment. For @AustinISD's 2014 8th graders: 19% (1,088 kids) graduated from a 2 year or 4 year college in Texas but of the total 1,088 kids that got a degree, degree attainment is heavily weighted towards those who attended a 4

It’s concerning that Austin’s new library head’s first statements signal a softer approach to homeless in libraries given the safety issues recently My heart breaks for youth homelessness, but city homeless aid should be separate from libraries, libraries should be safe space!

Haven’t seen this before, Austin city legal is taking an ‘unauthorized’ billboard to court Maybe they saw how effective billboards are during prop Q election and are lashing out 🤣 https://t.co/4gHNCSKYWZ

The city of Austin is taking legal action against what the city has described as an unauthorized billboard on Bee Caves Road, with one of two potential upcoming court dates set for Jan. 7.

arts staffers are pushing for a change that would see the city get more $$ for public art Today, 2% of city project budgets are allocated to art, but if the art comes out less than that, the $$ rolls back to city They want to change it so it rolls over to a specific arts fund

Audits are gaining national attention! Austin can lead the nation and be the first city where its citizens demand an audit Sign the petition at

Proposition Q is Austin's Largest Cost of Living Increase in History. See How Much Renters & Home Owners Would Pay. Learn Where to Vote.
If a public company went through an audit like this, the report would show a failing grade along with what is called “material weaknesses”. It would be a five alarm fire. The result would be a period to cure these weaknesses. Otherwise, the CEO/CFO would be fired, the company

Sounds like a good opportunity if you have the time!
This is why we NEED honest poll workers. To help in the Travis County Primary for 2026 (positions pay $22/hr) drop a line to elections.TCRP@gmail.com

I don’t think Austin pays per homeless person actually That would require the city to know how many people the organizations we pay actually help And we have no idea! We need to audit!
If you pay organizations per homeless person, you get more homeless people and the NGOs fight hard to maximize the homeless population. Whatever you incentivize will happen.

This is kinda of interesting new data on school district higher ed outcomes 19% of AISD 2014 class graduated from college But major flaw in data is it only tracks Texas colleges , so misses the great migration of Austin kids to the SEC https://t.co/QOlHH9qS0k
texastribune.org
Newly-released state data tracked the long-term outcomes of public school students who enrolled a decade ago.

Not a fan of how the new city expense policy prohibits transferring unused budget to other departments I think @mkelly007 pioneered this and gave 100k+ to parks in her district, @RyanAlter also built a gazebo These are good things! We want to incentivize council to be thrifty!

Policy idea for @GregAbbott_TX : All taxpayer funded public art must represent and promote the indomitable American spirit and ingenuity Our government art should be immensely patriotic and inspiring

The City of Austin has a transparency problem. After approving a revised budget, they have not released a comprehensively updated budget document. Rather they ask citizens and contractors to parse together the pieces from various memos, with many being withheld from public view.
