Keep #DogsOnLeads from March to July. Dartmoor is home to many birds that nest on or near the ground. They’re easily scared by dogs having fun, and may even abandon their chicks. Thank you for looking after these ground-nesting birds. #NationalTrustDartmoor

Here is map of policy failure: Dartmoor's SACs- green is the SAC and black is ungrazed Molinia (courtesy of RSPB) - 30 years of stocking cuts produces this. To revert this we need to continue to re-wet the deep peat AND increase cattle numbers - just what the @DavidFursdon

Deep sigh. So it begins all over again––the struggle to stop a multi-millionaire hedge-fund manager from illegalising the right to responsible wild camping on Dartmoor. But––we beat him in the Courts of Appeal & we'll beat him at the Supreme Court too. Mustering! @Right_2Roam
📢BREAKING: The right to wild camp on Dartmoor is to be challenged in the Supreme Court. Alexander Darwall is to take his case to the highest court in the land.

The Dartmoor Grazing Review team led by @DavidFursdon get huge congratulations from me for their report. Within 5 months they have got inside & on top of a very complicated & conflicted topic. I like all the recommendations eg wet peat and eat Molinia @CRPRExeter @suesustainable

Native breeds like this #Exmoorpony thrive in wetland environments. Welfare provisions for any grazing animals in enclosed wetlands must be provided - even water buffalo do not want to be in water 24/7. This includes providing a dry escape where they can rest out of the water

We are shocked and desperately saddened to learn that the famous Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian's Wall has been felled overnight, in what appears to be an act of vandalism. We know just how much this iconic tree is loved locally, nationally and by everyone who has visited. We are

Great to read in latest issue of @dartmoormag about the Central Dartmoor Farm Cluster - a group of brilliant tenant farmers & owner-occupiers restoring nature on their farms - including Atlantic rainforest! Fingers crossed for their Landscape Recovery bid. Lots of momentum.
