When listening, try to get to the point of understanding where you can restate the other person’s observation, feeling, and need...seek first to understand before you seek to be understood.

A communication model that I really like: -Observation -Feeling -Need -Request Example: When you’re late, I feel frustrated because I value our time together and we only have a limited amount before I need to get home. Could I ask you to be on time again the future?

Something I’ve noticed lately - I get a lot of praise from strangers when I’m out alone in public with my kids trying to calm them down when they’re having a tough time. I like it and appreciate it and hope it continues. Let’s just make sure we praise moms in the same way.

Music, drama, etc. are great ways to do build resilience as well. I love @angeladuckw’s idea of requiring one hard activity outside of school at all times. I think it would be tough to foster resilience without activities like that.

My own personal thought - organized sports is a great way to build resilience. They provide exposure to failure, teach how to handle pressure, push through pain, etc.

4. Let kids fail. Be with them as they’re processing failure, but don’t rescue them from it in the first place.

3. Encourage independent play. Kids best learn how to resolve issues and work together when playing on their own. Resist the urge to intervene when conflict comes up. This is an idea from @glukianoff and @jesslahey.

2. Praise the right things. @DweckCarol asserts that you should be praising effort, rather than outcome, to instill a growth mindset. A growth mindset is about a belief in personal development, rather than a fixed, which thinks we are as we are.

How do we instill perseverance in our kids? 1. Provide safety and security. @kenthoff, Glenn Cooper, and Bert Powell argue that it is difficult to develop emotional resilience without a strong sense inner sense of security as a base.

Why is resilience (grit) important? @angeladuckw research shows that grit is a strong predictor of positive life outcomes. Generally, even more so than natural ability.

Twitter can be an absolute cesspool. But if you properly curate who and what you’re following, it can instead be an amazingly inspirational and thought provoking place.

Hi @SimoAhava! I have a scenario where I've got a ~70% bounce rate but 0:00:00 avg. session duration in GA. That's over >20 visitors from a display referral channel. How is that possible? To have about 1/3rd of ppl. not bounce, wouldn't your duration have to be >0?
