At the beginning of her life, my mother was born in a mother & baby home with the third highest death rate in Ireland. At 15 days old, my mother was sent in a taxi to an adoption home halfway up the country with her mother. Her mother would visit her a few times by...

Regarding the latest update from the Special Advocate for Survivors, this is the first time that any podcast has been mentioned. No public call for survivors to share their story, it feels like a lot of this has been very closed circuit. Other survivors I spoke to feel the same.

Decentralised Robotics 🧵 I/ Building datasets for embodied AI is tough—humanoid robots need real-world human motion task data, but collecting it at scale has been limited to research lab projects or closed source big labs. At Eidon, we started with our wearable IMU trackers.

@danielmloftus It’s infuriating that the #SpecialAdvocate is cherry picking from the usual ‘voices’, the voiceless should’ve been afforded an opportunity to participate. Yet another office that ignores the stories of many survivors

A hearty thank you to @AdultAdopteeMov for letting me speak to their members about the work we do at @Project_Infant in trying to restore the names of those who died in mother and baby homes, industrial schools & Magdalene Laundries around Ireland… you can watch it here. ⬇️

4/4 If these podcasts help even 1 survivor of #CSA or #DomesticAbuse then all of this will have been worth it. If these podcasts help to change our #HealthCare system I will have helped save other survivors from being triggered when they are physically unwell

3/4 I’ve lost 2 stone in weight since these podcasts were recorded. I have been forcing myself to eat, battling to focus on everyday tasks, hugging myself to sleep at night. Hugging myself helps me to fight off my darkest memories when I feel so alone.

2/4 Listening to myself telling my life story was so hard. I’d to listen to these podcasts a few times before they were edited & voice altered. The 1st time I listened I couldn’t believe that I was talking about my life, the #abuse, the poor choices I made

🧵1/4 The hardest part of recording these #podcasts was the aftermath. I’ve been very open about my experience of #CSA here but I rarely talk about my experience of #DomesticAbuse Part One — https://t.co/tRP0608Mx0 Part Two —

If you have some time, please do listen to the two parts of Breda’s story. Breda speaks so eloquently, openly & passionately that I can only hope that this will be heard by many. Trigger warning for both episodes, but it’s compelling accounts like Breda’s that make change. ⬇️
Almost a third of the population of Ireland have experienced #ChildSexualAbuse yet our healthcare system has no Mandatory Trauma Informed Treatment Model Podcast Part 2 explains why an uneducated system is unacceptable @HSELive

1/15 Dee became pregnant in 1969 at just sixteen years of age. From her rural home in Kilkenny she was sent to #Bessboro #MotherAndBabyHome. Dee was devastated, felt totally alone and understood from the outset that she would have to give up her baby for adoption,

At #SeanRossAbbey on a frosty Winter evening people gathered on the site where 1,090 infants & children and 23 young women lost their lives. 🕯️💔🕯️💔 All credit to Mike Donovan and Ann Connolly for organising last Thursdays Remembrance evening.🙏 #WeWillRememberThem

Finally, I was so glad to see that the 80 foot #CarrsHill cross is illuminated again at night time. May the thousands buried there never be forgotten. This is known as the Famine Graveyard but there are #Bessboro babies buried here too. #MayWeNeverForget

There are many things that the Good Shepherd Convent was, but the one thing it was not, was a mother & baby home…
