you should. Daniel, who is a college student in his early twenties does all this work for no fee; he is extremely helpful in situations where oldies like me become stuck. He should receive a #NationalAward for providing support so generously while in third level studies.

Daniel has a direct family history to the #Bessborough #MotherAndBabyHome which he has spoken of. It is the mark of this young man that he chose not to dwell on Bessboro alone but on all sites where vulnerable citizens lost their lives. If you’re not already following 3/4

In June 2023 I invited Daniel to open our Conference titled “Grave Injustices” dealing with the scandal of #MotherAndBabyHomes in recognition of the wonderful work he was undertaking. Make no mistake, this is what the State with endless resources should be doing. 2/4

Dear @HeatherH, Can I just say you sound so adamant along with many other TDs that everything with Ireland’s institutions doesn’t matter now. I’m also working on giving those children their names back that your Government didn’t do when you had *every* opportunity to do it.

I’d be interested to find the return for EVERY institution out there to see exactly how many were there. For instance, 729 students for Artane Industrial School in 1901, going up to 807 in 1911. I imagine it would be quite a large figure when we do get to finally have a look…

There is a consultation in progress by @NualaMcAllister MLA — to put a Burial Protection Bill in place to stop the graves of thousands of stillborn children & children from institutions from being repurposed or resold / developed. Share your thoughts:

A thread... @ExpGlasnevin is the burial place for 3,097 of these children. I have been corresponding / trying to get through to them since August, to get access to the records to find where they are buried. They have now stonewalled me entirely. [1/5]

1/8 Mary Dunleavy Greene from Carlow was just three and a half years old when she and three siblings were taken by the Cruelty Man, placed before Courts without any family member or representative to speak for them and sentenced to industrial schools to the age

This should be raising alarm bells in itself. If Industrial School survivors are still fighting the Government for what they were promised 26 years ago, what kind of precedent is that setting for any other institutional survivor trying to get their basic entitlements?

The Good Shepherd Sisters have announced there’s work underway to update the gravesites of the High Park & Sean McDermott Street Laundries. There’s 327 names due to be added. 3 newly-discovered graves belonging to the congregation have also been found. https://t.co/45oQVWJUas

It is times like this that I wish I had the power to expand @Project_Infant to include the names of those who died in the UK’s institutions too. Being a dual citizen of both countries & one half of my family in each country — it hurts that I’m not able to help with the UK front.

@cmcgettrick @breeda_murphy @maglaundries @ctcantwell By posting the submission on social media you’ve made it public interest. By not making their names public you are denying them their #Justice. In order for the theme of ‘non recurrence’ to be honoured all who died at the hands of the State & church must be publicly remembered.

1/6. The Irish State’s criteria for intervention on an institutional or private (burial) site requires the remains to fall under “manifestly inappropriately buried”. In 1992-93 on preparing the former #MagdalenLaundry site for sale twenty two extra sets of remains were found.

Read this thread. This is just something that we should not be trying to reduce because of potential difficulties. When trying to determine relationships via DNA, it’s what many genealogists do on the daily. Genealogy plays a much bigger role in this than people realise.

Daniel has recovered names not just from #MotherAndBabyHomes but other institutions, he shares those on @Project_Infant so we never forget. Today he spoke to @radiomidwest about names recovered from #Glenamaddy home 1921-1925
