Rudolph can fly over traffic but, try as we might, our firefighters can’t! Help us potentially save someone’s Christmas by making sure to leave enough space for fire engines to get down streets when parking. And why not take five and have a go at today’s Christmas colouring

Report it. Stop it. If you suspect a counterfeit product, report it to Trading Standards or the MHRA (for medicines) to help protect others. 🔗 https://t.co/VmN8lIU2so #CounterfeitGoods #ChristmasShopping #ConsumerSafety

Don’t drink and drown! Walking near or entering the water while under the influence of drugs or alcohol can lead to drowning. If you’ve been enjoying a drink with friends, make sure you stay together. Don’t let a friend walk home alone and choose a safe route away from water.

Stay together and away from water when drinking. 26% of people who accidentally drowned in 2022 had alcohol and/or drugs in their system. If you see someone in trouble in the water, remember this lifesaving advice: ▶️ Call 999 ▶️ Tell them to float on their back ▶️ Throw

Buy your electrical chargers from a reputable source! Many imported chargers do not meet UK safety regulations and can cause serious electric shock, injury or fire. 🔗 https://t.co/1h2jwZ4xE4 #ElectricalSafety #FireKills

Switch off appliances at the socket when not in use! This helps to reduce the risk of fire. Switch off appliances when you go to bed or when you go out unless they are designed to be left on, like freezers. https://t.co/1h2jwZ4xE4 #ElectricalSafety #FireKills

Keep electrical appliances clean and in good working order! Look out for fuses that blow, circuit-breakers that trip for no obvious reason and flickering lights to prevent appliances triggering a fire. Regularly check for frayed or worn cables and wires.

When roads flood, it’s tempting to think you can make it through. But water hides dangers - missing manhole covers, debris, and strong currents. Don’t drive into floodwater. Find another route and report flooded roads. Your safety comes first. 🔗 https://t.co/4Qdx23esAI

Don’t overload plug sockets! An extension lead or adaptor will have a limit to how many amps it can take so, to help reduce the risk of fire, be careful not to overload them. Try to keep to one plug per socket. https://t.co/1h2jwZ4xE4 #ElectricalSafety #FireKills
