The DGI defines a healthy meal/food as including only vegetables, whole grains, pulses/beans, nuts/, seeds, fruits & yoghurt with no sugar & minimal oils/fats. Eggs, fish, meat, poultry, etc., appear sometimes in footnotes or disappear. https://t.co/1ODwut7jqR

Instead of time-tested indicators of weights and heights, DGI chose to foreground data on cholesterol, triglycerides, diabetes, etc.

A core element of the party's “survival programs,” by March a second breakfast program began operating out of Sacred Heart Church in San Francisco. By the end of 1969 the party was feeding over 10,000 children before school in hundreds of cities across the country

this is honestly why I don't think everyone needs kids. work and organize together with child free people that are willing to spare their time and resources to help parents and families out. we owe it to children to provide the healthiest future possible. work together!
Spending time with children is the groundwork for solidarity with children. This does not make parents authorities on what solidarity with children looks like. Many parents do not spend time with children. And authority over children is not solidarity.

100%. I'm bummed by how many adults think of children as something other than members of a community. Kids are treated as expendable or *ornamental to* adult lives; policies in restaurants, work, and public spaces reflect this, as do comments by narcissistic adults.
Showing up for children and caregivers is how we learn different conditions of care and make solidarity more possible. There are so many ways to do this all the time.

Not hard to believe that children might just be against children being senselessly slaughtered and don't want to hear adults try to justify any of it.

This powerful exchange adds depth to the story, and whether it was intentional or not, it truly stood out to me as the most impactful moment in the film. [refined with help of AI] #LubberPandhu

In many cases, these concepts also serve as excuses for children who choose to break off relationships to protect their own privileges. However, in this scene, it’s the daughter who confronts her father, challenging the established power dynamic.

Typically, it is parents who accuse their children of betrayal, using ideas like 'trust' and 'respect' to maintain control and uphold societal norms, including casteism and patriarchy.

In the movie "Lubber Panthu", one of my favorite scenes is the conversation between Gethu and his daughter, Durga, on the terrace. Durga tells her father, "I trusted you so much, but you betrayed me." This moment is significant because it flips the usual narrative.
