There’s nothing patronising about sharing the facts. London has crime, of course, but the fear of crime is several times higher than the reality. Pointing to the true figures isn’t telling anyone they’re “wrong” for feeling fear, it’s putting that fear into perspective.
@csljohnkirby @KayBurley How patronising is it to tell people who are now frightened to go into our capital due its lawlessness they’re wrong. I’m afraid you can’t tell people they’re wrong for fearing real factual crime figures.

Both of them remain very British in feel, #Lewisham and #Tottenham are British, full stop. Both areas have proud histories of resilience, community, and contribution. They’re places where churches, mosques, temples and community halls run food banks side by side. Where local.
@csljohnkirby @KayBurley Still not recognisably British though because of demographics.🤷♂️.

Knife crime in the UK has risen over the past decade, especially in London. Fear fuels a vicious circle: more carry knives “for protection”, yet too often those blades are turned on the carrier. Breaking this cycle needs education, trust & hope, not more fear. #KnifeCrime.
@csljohnkirby @KayBurley Dont need to talk it down. Just be honest. Knife crime is one of those crimes which is almost always reported. Business, Petty crime and muggings arent. Insurance premiums 🤷🏽♂️ police dont turn up. 🤷🏽♂️ . Knife crime almost doubled in last decade.

Rape is abhorrent; even one case is one too many. I’ve never said otherwise, nor that nothing happens. @RapeCrisisEandW report 71,227 rapes each year in England & Wales, that’s about 195 every single day. In London, it’s around 24–25 daily. That means London accounts for.
@csljohnkirby @KayBurley Just because you haven't had any issues, doesn't mean that those issue don't exist!. Typical ignorance, if it doesn't happen to you it doesn't happen!

The “two-tier” tag is being stuck onto everything because it rhymes with Kier, not because it means anything. It’s a slogan, not a serious critique. Let’s debate policy on substance, not playground wordplay. #TwoTier.

You clearly did not drive daily on the M25 in the years running up to the building of the Dartford Bridge. Your terminology is disgusting, using terms like "illegal Scum", these are human beings we are talking about, and no asylum seeker is illegal. It is strange that Britain.
@csljohnkirby @RupertLowe10 Despite your amusing rose-tinted-glasses attempt to alter actual reality and paint them as a positive, it doesn't change the simple fact that BEFORE the mass influx of illegal scum we could drive freely and NOW we can't. More people = less room. You're wrong and Rupert's right.

As an individual whose home/work life is split between London and the East Midlands, I still love London, and I'm absolutely fed up with commentators, including many politicians, who talk down London, and in fact, the UK in general. The fear of crime is so far removed from the.

A former Home Secretary calling a jury’s verdict perverse is disgraceful. The trial followed due process. The jury, ordinary citizens, heard the evidence and reached a lawful decision. If an MP dislikes the law, they can seek to change it. But undermining a jury’s verdict like.
This unacceptable. Perverse decisions like this are adding to the anger that people feel and amplifying the belief that there isn’t a dispassionate criminal justice system.

I never said it was a “win”, I’m pointing out the roots of the policy, which matters when the OP is accusing (or implying) Labour has “gone mad”. If the outcome’s the problem, blame the policy architecture. But let’s keep the outrage honest. And while we’re at it, perhaps ask.
@csljohnkirby @kelvmackenzie @UKLabour @Conservatives @VOAgovuk Trying to claim labour is competent by pointing out they're only doing what the tories started isn't the win you think it is.

I hope the xenophobes don’t pile in for using German terminology and all that, but “Nice kontrapunkt” indeed. Yes, higher business rates may feed through to passenger prices. Some might say that’s fairer than the public subsidising flight infrastructure. However, even if you.
@csljohnkirby @kelvmackenzie @UKLabour @Conservatives @VOAgovuk Nice kontrapunkt. I imagine the increase will ultimately feed back into higher prices for travellers, one way or another.
