A lot of hunger crises have turned into hunger disasters! The new #GHI2022 report by @concern and @welthungerhilfe shows where the situation is particularly dramatic. https://t.co/tIX8iRKc10

I've been in touch with several German universities which have expressed interest in admitting students displaced from Ukraine. If you're a displaced student, you can register your interest via this form, and I will share it with the universities:

Also one of the reasons I feel insanely privileged to have been born in a country with such high resources and opportunities. Did you know that most of our income is determined by where we are born? https://t.co/JXRLuzKGh3

Twist: @JavdaniMohsen reveals the paper is actually coauthored by Banerjee/Duflo/Kremer, not Ha-Joon Chang, and the twitter outrage it provoked is really a final meta illustration of its core claim.

Economists are significantly more likely to reject an argument when it is randomly attributed to an economist outside of the mainstream. Ideological bias is larger among male economists. Paper by @JavdaniMohsen & Ha-Joon Chang: https://t.co/ULJ9CQh2ix

The energy at the march in #HongKong today feels triumphant and defiant. Protestors are unified in their calls. They're demanding Carrie Lam step down, that she withdraws the extradition bill and that police "stop using violence against students." #LockhartRoad

New research by SHP's @maya_rossin and @SIEPR's @PerssonPetra shows that giving fathers the flexibility to take time off from work in the months after their children are born improves the postpartum health and mental well-being of mothers. https://t.co/Xu4SEg4MWa

Who's financing #Africa's #infrastructure? Africans themselves & #China. We might have known this, but the gap to Europe & US (also via MDBs) is stark. It's problematic mainly because it shows the lack of *agency* provided by the West to African governments. #globaldev
