Seeing this shot on the big screen was the first time Ive ever gotten so excited that I immediately broke down crying The Volume 1 colors felt like a love letter to all the manga fans, This moment defines the whole movie for me, I went back again and again JUST for this shot

Despite this, I must admit that it's really moving to see your favorite manga adapted for the big screen, and with such high quality. It's the perfect arc to adapt for the cinema, and I think it's a success.

Still, I think the staging is fine. There are good ideas throughout the film, the fights are impressive, but a little marred by the overly fast pacing of certain scenes.

The pacing: the movie doesn't take enough time. And I think that's partly because of the editing; they cut some shots from the trailer that could have helped in this regard, which is a shame (probably a decision to make the movie faster and more digestible for everyone).

I thought I was going to throw up when the manga colors appeared, not because it's ugly, but because it takes you out of the movie as if it were saying, “Hey fan, happy now?”. Fortunately, there aren't many of these in the movie, and don't happen at important moments.

Fan service. The film has no visual identity of its own. And that's solely because of fan service. Of course, not the kind we're used to seeing elsewhere (the sexualization of characters). But the kind that starts from the very first second: the visual identity of the manga.

I do have to mention some things that bothered me, though. The sound design: I criticize some bad ideas, like the silly sounds you hear from time to time that take you out of the immersion. Is Gear 5 in the movie or what?

The Denji-Reze relationship is well done. I was really afraid it would turn into cringe, but the truth is, they handled it well. The ending really tugs at your heartstrings, and that's all I asked for.

The important scenes overflow with love from the directors and artists: the movie theater scene, the school, the final battle, the beach, and the alley. Most of the movie, in fact. It's impossible to deny the immense love put into this work.

Ushio's music is unbeatable and really adds to the immersion; this man understands this work so well. I'm so glad we had him this far, it's a miracle.

I start with the elephant in the room : The animation and artwork are breathtaking. They did such a great job of conveying the subtle emotions of the characters, I still can't get over it.
