Controlling the impulse to raise your hands ⬆️ to protect yourself is the most important aspect of working below the baseball. The fake feeds in this drill are a great way to desensitize this movement and eliminate glove lift prior to catch. Great stuff @dallascorrea 🤙

Line Dancing Drill 1. 6 ball feed, random L or R release 2. C, creates a line, slides thumb along line 3. Once thumb reaches outside of knee, ball is released 4. C works out to in, wins 2 balls outside of knee #1 and #3 here is a great example, #2 shows a late/stab receive

On Tom Tango’s blog Jacob Stallings was rated baseball’s best blocker in 2021. He was 31 below the expected PB/WP’s. Well ahead #2 Tucker Barnhardt. He utilizes a very unconventional technique. He holds up his free hand with the palm facing the ball. I think it helps soften his

In 2021 Max Stassi had some of the best receiving metrics in MLB. Here he converts a low BB into a strike. He doesn’t catch it perfectly clean but still gets the job done. It reinforces the fact that you don’t have to be perfect to get results.

A really good read as we consider an automated K zone. 2 takeaways that we can’t forget as watch on TV: 1: The box on TV isn’t representative of the actual K zone 2: MLB umpires are REALLY good at calling balls & strikes (between 91 & 96% accuracy across the entire league

The “catching has never been worse” narrative is tired. Here’s what we know. ✔️Velocity is 📈 ⬆️ ✔️Pitch movement is 📈⬆️ ✔️OS usage is 📈⬆️ ✔️In Zone rate 📉⬇️ Catching has never been harder! Interestingly, EP’s are the lowest since 15’ while framing skills are improving.
