This has quietly been going on since the early 80's. It's only picked up steam. No one talks about it. Also applies more than you think to women.
I heard an alarming statistic today. I knew it was bad but didn’t think it was this bad. Today, 75% of white men over 50 who lose their job will never work again because no one will hire them. A tsunami of much younger jobless people who will fill those jobs for 50% less pay.

10/ I'm sorry but until cost comes down dramatically (like, cut in half) this will never be worth it. I have no idea what kind of pricing exists between the vendors selling to us and the manufacturers selling to the vendors, but that's clearly a big problem (and a monopoly).

9/ Yes, we know we could buy the panels in some SPV and scoop the tax savings personally (the company has huge NOL's, being a startup), but even after that, it's still more than a decade long payback and that's kind of cheating on the justification.

8/ Our facility is in one of the most sun-drenched parts of the US. If it can't work here on basic merit, where on earth could solar ever work? I can't think of a worse alternative energy solution than solar.

7/ Given the upside down equation between cost of the panels (shockingly high) and the energy they produce (shockingly low), you almost couldn't imagine the size of a building needed to justify even a 10-year payback or low single digit return.
