Can we stop calling it a compiler? It's barely a transpiler. From React's docs: "React Compiler automatically memoizes your code." ...cool. Also Closure "Compiler" did that 25 YEARS AGO. #svelte did it 8 years ago. JS moves so fast it rediscovers 25 yr old tech on the daily.

Anyone who LOVES improving performance should excited to see how much low hanging improvements there must be in typed languages. There's nothing stopping Go from being as fast as Java or Typescript from catching up to Go!
More languages, more insights! A few interesting takeaways: * Java and Kotlin are quick! Possible explanation: Google is heavily invested in performance here. * Js is really fast as far as interpreted / jit languages go. * Python is quite slow without things like PyPy.

My new favorite thing to do with Claude. Instead of learning a new framework (e.g. DB testing like pgTap) just have Claude build a "framework" for you using bash scripts. It's soooo good at bash.
