Trump says he'll be announcing "many exciting things" over the next 8 weeks, "things that nobody has even contemplated, thought about, thought possible," with"levels of detail" and "levels of thought that a lot of people believed very strongly we didn't have in this country"
Per the same source, Trump handed out copies of the letter he'd sent to Erdogan at today's meeting in what was interpreted as an attempt to show everyone how tough he'd been.
Rainbow flags on display outside the Höfði House, where Vice President Mike Pence is holding meetings this afternoon in Iceland. It’s the site of the famous summit between Reagan and Gorbachev.
The White House says the president’s visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery this afternoon has been canceled because of bad weather. Kelly, his wife and Pompeo expected to go instead.
I heard at least 3 different rioters at the Capitol say that they hoped to find Vice President Mike Pence and execute him by hanging him from a Capitol Hill tree as a traitor. It was a common line being repeated. Many more were just talking about how the VP should be executed.
An update on the Nunberg will-he, won’t-he drama: He says he’s now compiled all the docs Mueller asked for, tells me, “It ended up not being as onerous as I thought it would be.”
Fauci this morning on ABC, responding to the anti-lockdown protests: "What you do if you jump the gun and go into a situation where you have a big spike, you're gonna set yourself back... It's gonna backfire. That's the problem.”
Trump to Fox: "It's called flipping and it almost ought to be illegal ... they go from 10 years to they're a national hero. They have a statue erected in their honor. It's not a fair thing."
Here’s my story on this from Thursday. Pence allies feel the president not only scapegoated him, but put his life (and his family’s) in danger with his rhetoric at the rally and his tweet while the siege was underway:
Source close to the vice president tells me while the VP and his family were in a bunker in the Capitol, the President did not reach out to check on his safety or condemn those who said the VP should be executed.
This was somewhat lost in the election week shuffle, but there's another outbreak at the White House and Tuesday night's election watch party is being watched as a potential super-spreading event
NEWS: Sec. Ben Carson tested positive for COVID-19 this morning. His deputy chief of staff says he's "in good spirits & feels fortunate to have access to effective therapeutics which aid and markedly speed his recovery." Carson attended the election night party at the White House
How one small town at the center of the outbreak has cut infections virtually to zero: test all 3,300 in town, isolate the 3 percent who tested positive. Infection rate 10 days later down to .3 percent.
Giuliani said on "Meet the Press" that Trump's campaign didn't know Natalia Veselnitskaya was Russian when they set up the Trump Tower meeting. See reference to "The Russian government attorney" below:
"I think Joe Biden has a scandal coming up that's going to make him almost an impotent candidate," Trump also told his staff during the call.
“We found stuff yesterday we gave it to the press," he said.
"According to an Associated Press analysis of census data, low-income immigrants who are not citizens use Medicaid, food aid, cash assistance and Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, at a lower rate than comparable low-income native-born adults."
Trump stood off to the side while this was playing - glancing back and forth between the screens and the reporters in the room - at times smiling slyly.
Pence’s decision to continue campaign travel despite contact with infected aides is drawing alarm from medical experts.
“He needs to be staying home 14 days,” one said. “Campaign events are not essential.”
On a private call Thurs, governors from both parties pressed Trump for help. Washington Gov. Jay Inslee urged Trump to use his full authority to ramp up production of medical equipment. Be like Tom Brady, he told Trump, less like a “backup quarterback."
The president, eager for company after a lonely stretch in a near-empty White House, zigzagged for more than 90 minutes as a mock movie poster with his photograph on it sat, without explanation, in the middle of the grand Cabinet Room table.
This is a good example of why, at pretty much every background briefing, you'll hear an AP reporter ask why it's being held on background/why it's not on record.
.
@realDonaldTrump
is slamming the
@nytimes
for citing a senior White House official “who doesn’t exist,” but the portion of the article he appears to be referring to directly cites comments made at a background briefing the White House held for the whole press corps Thursday.
Even today, supporters point to his success as a businessman & repeat his talking point that he gave up a great deal to serve, citing his sacrifice as evidence that he ran for the job not out of self-interest, but because he cares about improving the lives of people like them.
The tax allegations go to the very heart of Trump’s appeal, especially among the blue-collar voters in states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan who propelled him to the presidency in 2016.
“When I first got there, he was breathing in a very erratic way that he wasn’t really taking air into his lungs as he should have been,” she said. “And then he stopped breathing.”

“The AP’s review found at least three Trump campaign aides named on the permit rushed to obscure their connections to the demonstration. They deactivated or locked down their social media profiles and removed tweets that referenced the rally.”
Staff who see Trump are decked in full PPE, per the White House. They say he entered the Oval Office from the outside to reduce staff exposure. Note that Trump can easily make calls and work from the residence...
President Trump very much feels like the star of the show here as he’s welcomed by the new emperor. Standing on his own platform. Walking alone on the red carpet while the emperor, empress and first lady watch.
Graham, calling in to Fox & Friends: "I hope I'm making myself clear how short-sighted and irresponsible this decision is, in my view."
"I like president Trump. I've tried to help him. This to me is just unnerving to its core."

"The man who vowed to be a president of law and order failed to enforce the law or restore order. The man who has always seen himself as the protector of uniformed police sat idly by as Capitol Police officers were outnumbered, outmaneuvered, trampled on—and in one case, killed"
I asked Trump whether he thinks his rhetoric contributes at all to violence. “No, I don’t think my rhetoric has at all," he said. "I think my rhetoric is a very - it brings people together. Our country is doing incredibly well.”
The president's supporters saw them as a symbol of his commitment to border security. His detractors saw them as monuments to wasted taxpayer dollars.
Now, the border wall prototypes are being reduced to rubble. READ MORE:

The “Squad” is a very Racist group of troublemakers who are young, inexperienced, and not very smart. They are pulling the once great Democrat Party far left, and were against humanitarian aid at the Border...And are now against ICE and Homeland Security. So bad for our Country!

Quick update: Secretary Pompeo did not wind up going either. Per the state dept, his visit was “canceled due to scheduling and logistical difficulties caused by the weather.” Other staff did attend.
