Friday Market for Phibsborough 🎉
Dublin City Council will trial a Friday afternoon/evening market in Phibsborough from May. The market will be located at the linear park on the Royal Canal Bank between Blessington Street Park (The Basin) and Phibsborough Village.
Delighted that Dublin Bus has confirmed that the Nitelink service will return from January 28th. I called for the Nitelink to return as it is an important service to workers and anyone looking for a low-cost option to get home safe. Thanks to Dublin Bus for their great services.
Following requests, have been informed that Dublin City Council will be installing an additional 150 Portaloo toilets, 54 large Eurobins and 80 Barrel Bins (13 additional) across the City from this weekend with a specific focus on high footfall areas in the City Centre.
👉 I asked the Council to remove the redundant electric power point at the 17 shops on the Cabra Road. The power point was originally in place to power a mobile library that used to be parked there before Cabra library was built many years ago. The less clutter the better!
Am absolutely delighted to have been elected to Dublin City Council. Thank you to everyone who supported me and placed their trust in me. Commiserations to my running mate, Siobhan Shovlin, who ran an awesome campaign but who sadly was not elected on this occasion.

The Fine Gael emergency motion below was passed at tonight’s
@DubCityCouncil
meeting to ensure a Dublin City of good vibes 🥳. Summary: Night Mayor for Dublin, spaces for safe outdoor gigs and markets, more public toilets, a more ambitious roll-out of car-free streets and more👇
Top day calling by to residents in Ashtown/Pelletstown knocking on doors about the work I've been doing for the area, particularly the ‘Taken-In-Charge’ issue. Thanks to
@LeoVaradkar
for joining.

A lot of residents have been in contact with me about the issue of vehicles parking illegally, especially those blocking footpaths and I am continually raising this with DCC. If you spot the issue in Dublin City, please contact the DSPS - Dublin Street Parking Services.
👉 Update: The Friday market in Phibsborough will begin on Friday the 13th of May. Lots of residents asked for such a market previously, so I am super excited to see this happen 🎉

At the 2022 Fine Gael Ard Fheis, I proposed a motion to establish a Taskforce for Dublin that was passed by members and became Fine Gael policy. Thank you to
@SimonHarrisTD
for committing to implement this policy at the

today.
Cancelling Dublin Bus Nitelink services is the wrong route to take. The Nitelink isn’t just about clubbers and drinkers. It accommodates those working late night or early morning shifts, frontline workers, students working weekends who can’t afford taxis home and anyone else.
I’m delighted to have been selected as the
@FineGael
candidate to run in the Local Elections in the Cabra-Glasnevin Ward of Dublin City Council, which includes Ashtown, Cabra, Drumcondra, Glasnevin, Navan Road and Phibsborough. Proud to be a local

It was an honour to have been invited to lay a wreath and to also deputise for the Lord Mayor of Dublin at the 97th Annual Commemoration of President Arthur Griffith & General Michael Collins at their burial places in Glasnevin Cemetery. Two giants of Irish history 🇮🇪
Super chats with residents this evening in the Navan Road area with
@LeoVaradkar

🎉 Good news today for outdoor dining and enjoying the outdoors this summer, in a safe way, in Dublin City. The FG group on Dublin City Council (DCC) passed this motion tonight and we will meet with the DCC CEO in the coming days to make sure this is implemented 🌱 🪴 🥘 🚲 🚶♂️🍽
👉 Thanks so much to the many residents who came along last night to visit the plot of land under the new Reilly’s Bridge beside the Royal Canal that will be transformed into a community garden for residents of the wider area.
The woman who was stabbed in an attack near the IFSC in Dublin City two weeks ago has died today in the Mater Hospital. Such sad news. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. Everything must be done to strengthen operations to target knife crime. This must stop!
Sudocrem was invented in Cabra by Professor Thomas Smith who had a pharmacy here. First called Smith’s Baby Cream, it changed to Soothing Cream. It is said it became Sudocrem in 1950 due to the Dublin accent pronunciation of Soothing Cream. Images via
I am delighted to confirm that I will run in the Local Elections on Friday, 7th June, to seek re-election to Dublin City Council. I am asking for your number 1 vote so that I can continue to represent you

My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the person who tragically died in Phibsborough today. I was in the area just after the tragic incident happened and the community are in shock.
Honoured to read extracts from ‘Paths to Freedom’ at the 99th Commemoration of President Arthur Griffith and General Michael Collins in Glasnevin. A small gathering this year due to health guidelines but looking forward to a big event next year for the 100th commemeration. 🇮🇪

An awful mess... all along the banks of the Royal Canal. Residents are at their wit's end as mountains of litter and bottles is destroying the stretch along the Royal Canal. Personal responsibility?

Thanks to all DCC Central Area Councillors for supporting this motion. There’s congestion on the roads of every area I represent but Phibsborough is at a crisis point in terms of excess vehicles passing through. Action needs to be taken. Radical measures need to be introduced.

🟠 Emergency motion adopted tonight: Agreed that steps be taken to allow for the appointment of a Night Mayor for Dublin City to support night-time culture post-Covid. We need a dedicated mayor to deal with the night time social scene post-Covid 🌃🎆🌠

Pelletstown Community Garden: I have been working with residents in setting up a community garden for Pelletstown since last year and DCC have identified land. There will be a meeting this Thursday at 6.30pm at Reilly’s Bridge. DM me for further details🪴🌿🐝🌱🍎
It was fantastic to pop into my old primary school, Bosco’s on the Navan Road, to hear the great things the kids have been doing. Here I am, outside my old classroom. 🎓
🚽 🚽🚽 Good news that Dublin City Council has announced the opening of 22 of its public buildings on a "toilets only" basis. 8 Sports facilities, 13 Libraries and City Hall will open for people to use the toilets. Another step in the right direction.
👉A very significant and exciting day as we just formally initiated the Part 8 Planning application to redevelop Dalymount Park stadium at the DCC Central Area Committee. Well overdue and the sooner this gets moving the better! ⚽️
I 💙 Dublin and I’ll love it even more when these measures are put in place. In our letter to the CEO of DCC, we are asking that these measures be put in place by the summer 🌱 🚲🪴🚶♀️☕️🚶♂️🍽 🥘
The Fine Gael group on Dublin City Council passed a number of motions on this to the Council and Councillors brought various motions to area committees over the past couple of months regarding this so great to see this finally happening.
