I appreciate a diversity of options and letting families do what works for them. But people seem to feel the need to justify their choice by making blanket stereotypes of the other option.

There’s probably nothing I find more tedious than the homeschooling debate on twitter. Both sides like to generalize way too often. Many public schools are pretty good actually, and many homeschool kids are well socialized.

@cognazor I rarely go check on my sheep before 9am because I don’t want to wake them up. Maybe they have a little predawn bite then go back to sleep.

Our sheep are like teenagers. I went out to check on them after dark because I though I heard coyotes, and they were just hanging out, standing around. But then this morning, they were still laying around well after sunrise. Don't they know that the early sheep gets the forage?!.

Decided to do something violent and transplant it near the house in a more protected area. It’s not happy atm, but I think it will survive and maybe even thrive

How silly of me, this has been obvious all along.
@cognazor Well duh. We either keep innovating or we go back to the old way of doing things. (95% fewer people, subsistence farming, tribal violence, dying from infections, etc.). This is our one shot. We purchased global civilization with fossil fuel. There won't be another chance.

Many techno-optimists won't admit this, but basically what this is conceding is that modern civilization is not sustainable and the last desperate attempt to keep it going for another 100 years will be to try becoming a different species and/or letting the machines take over.
Do you want to see a global 10 IQ point collapse and the return of Malthusian economics?. Because that's the long-term "business as usual" scenario without either eugenics or AGI.
