One of the most important skills today’s athletes must learn, more than any sports drill or exercise, is to be COACHABLE. Take criticism & coaching from someone trying to make you better, not a personal attack. You aren’t perfect, you’re going to fail, & life is not social media

Sniff test for technology….. 1) Does it do or inform on something you’ve always wanted to do or know anyway? 2) Does it make your life easier to gain 1)? 3) Can you rationalize or monetize the cost for the technology? 4) Does it actually change your course of action?

… get everyone to fit into & follow may be taking away from what makes them who they are. There are still objectives to work towards improving, but try starting with supporting strengths instead of correctives and see what happens when you’re not always trying to fix something!

One of the hardest biases for coaches to overcome is the need to start with corrections, looking for what the athlete does wrong or could do better. Instead, try starting with what they do well and focus on magnifying their strengths. The neat little boxes & rules we try to…

Ben’s consistent progress and commitment to his craft meant we could count on him whenever we needed a big kick. A season after having numerous kicks blocked, the entire Points unit stepped up this year to only have 1 missed kick the entire season!

Next year It’s not out of the question that @CalabasasFtball has three 500-750+ receivers (@dezmynhardy5 @StephenOuvaroff @kingcelifie), and a 1200-1500 rusher in @KayneMiller_ all with a qb w/ the second highest completion % @YoDomx spreading it around. Get your popcorn ready!

Be curious 🧐 When an athlete isn’t responding to training as expected, explore possible reasons and ask questions If you’re a practitioner who always jumps to “lazy” or “undedicated”you might miss opportunities to help them. Or chances to improve your programming.

First year kicking full time and earned the Kickoff and Long Field Goal jobs. Was asked to do a lot of different things kickoff wise and was able to make in game adjustments. First career field goal attempt +40 yards. Excited to see how he develops after another full offseason!
