Used to sit by a man like this named Jim in the park every day while I ate my lunch. Sometimes we would talk, but mostly he would just be talking to himself the whole time. Sometimes when I was silently feeling sad he would look at me and tears would start running down his face.

I love Ethereum, and I’m as ETH aligned as they come. But I’m terrified by a large chunk of whales that are not eth treasury companies, ICO multisigs, or foundations, but just anonymous whales from the original ICO that have never touched their ETH.

New Left guerrilla groups in the 1970s like the Red Brigades, Red Army Faction, and Japanese Red Army were genuinely terrifying. Cold War paranoia wasn’t just hysteria, it stemmed from a real risk of internal insurgency.

Honestly I feel like a lot of the pitfalls Claude ran into running this remind me of the mistakes I made running my first business. I wonder if reading about past failures would be sufficient for it to self-correct.

Microwaves were a product of the post-nuclear ‘let’s commercialize radiation’ Overton window. They couldn’t be invented today if we had missed that window.

I wish there was a way to get chatgpt voice mode to give me the same output as text mode. It’s currently like 75% filler words and platitudes. “Great question, it’s a fascinating topic, etc etc” Feels like a politician or a podcast. System prompts seem to have no effect.

AI prediction: like in all other periods of increased automation for the last few hundred years, people won’t work less afterwards. They will somehow work more than ever before. Society will not have less jobs in aggregate. Most people will just be financially pressured to become.

Instead of throwing up our hands that chatGPT has made college assignments 10x easier, we need to make college 20x harder. Then the benefits of a hybrid brain society will start to emerge from everyone’s daily struggle to make use of AI to accomplish previously impossible tasks.

There is an obvious answer to this, teachers need to use AI to design questions that are extremely hard to answer, even using AI. I think it makes sense to prepare students to do extremely hard knowledge work with the help of AI. That’s the real future they will have to prepare.

The more time I spend AI coding the more I can see the future of it. Software jobs are not going away, but AI coding will be formalized. Approaches like Object Oriented programming were paradigms that were developed in response to common problems that occurred when thousands.
