Back then with no internet and only a handful of channels HBO was a premium service with uncensored, commercial-free programming you couldn't see anywhere else. There was absolutely every reason for them to go hard AF with the intro.
There was absolutely no reason for HBO to go this hard introducing movies back in the 80’s. But I’m glad they did:
