Serious question, what happened to call Emerge and other DSA left signed demanding Zohran fire Tisch? It’s not mentioned in thread even tho she is “responsible for brutal crackdowns on protest”
We’re glad to hear that @NYCMayor remains committed to his promise to disband NYPD’s Strategic Response Group (SRG), a “counterterrorism” unit formed in 2015 that has been responsible for brutal crackdowns on protests. But the issue is deeper than the need to disentangle (1/4)

Yes, disband SRG is most minimal thing & he won’t even do it. Demand he fire Tisch is really how to hold him accountable. It’s now or never, DSA Left: Let’s make a real fight, either he fires her or he forfeits all pretense to socialism https://t.co/i4vddZlxZ6

ALL members of NYCDSA you MUST bring up in your next meeting or event that Zohran has gone back on his promise to disband the SRG. We must pressure him to get rid of Tisch. His policies are now DIRECTLY harming us during anti-ice protests and rapid response operations.

What part is ironic? DSA Left isn’t holding him accountable to any socialist principle. Seems like despite some words of protest, as now with #disbandSRG, no real fight to get him to drop Tisch. Keeping pro-ICE Tisch means keeping all the rest.
It is sad and ironic that the 1st instance of SRG would be at an anti-ICE demo. The mayor can and should amplify the demands of the protestors, calling on Hilton to eject ICE. The vast majority of NYC doesn't want ICE in their community.

In 2024, @NYCMayor Mamdani said he would disband the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group (SRG). Today, the SRG arrested people at an anti-ICE protest in Manhattan:
Today the NYPD deployed the Strategic Response Group (SRG) to harass + arrest striking @teamsters. As Mayor, I will disband the SRG, which has cost taxpayers millions in lawsuit settlements + brutalized countless New Yorkers exercising their first amendment rights.

Election day he shouted, "A socialist for mayor!" The comrade got elected, he happy was for fair But after the election, he got an awful shock A great big socialistic cop did knock him on his block And Comrade Block did sob, "I helped him get his job!" - old Wobbly song
I’ve been briefed on an officer-involved shooting in Queens that occurred earlier today. The NYPD was responding to a 911 call, where they encountered an individual wielding a knife. The NYPD is assessing the situation, and we are committed to keeping New Yorkers informed as we

Spot on! You can't stay true to socialist principles while supporting Dems. The 'realignment' we need: @DemSocialists must ditch the Democrats and go to the working class. Clean-breakers: join us in building a united-front of all clean-break forces in DSA! https://t.co/vOo4GOzpsT

Realignment is not happening!!! Our own endorsed candidates are actively shifting right! AOC literally just endorsed a candidate who takes AIPAC money. By staying inside the Democratic Party, we are actively realigning OURSELVES

Nineteen organizers and counting are facing felony charges for standing up to ICE at a demonstration outside of Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, TX. The state wants to disappear our comrades behind bars, but we refuse to abandon them.

Of course it wasn't a general strike–union leaders don't want one cuz they're in bed with Dems. So is DSA. You want a general strike? Fight for a split with the Dems, don't whine on Twitter
This is true, it was a day of protest. Calling off work to go to a protest is not a general strike. General strikes paralyze the economy, and are violent. An example would be the mass work refusal/jailbreak to Federal lines by enslaved people in the South. This destroyed the

While Left pats itself on the back about a "general strike" that wasn't, Fed terror continues. Stop fronting! The only language these thugs understand is force. The way to apply it? Bring out labor, shut Twin Cities down! No more Renee Goods! https://t.co/J56rbxWfVp

#OTD in 1919, Karl Leibknecht & Rosa Luxemburg were killed in Germany at behest of capitalist government run by Social Democrats, which unleashed counterrevolutionary troops to crush workers uprising. JBA honors them in fighting today for revolutionary proletarian independence!

Trump & bosses aren’t held back by their own rules whenever it suits their class interests. Union leaders who insist on following these rules are handcuff members, setting up defeat. Nurses & their working-class allies must unite to win @nynurses strike! https://t.co/VfGjFZkooY

Good that DSAers are joining nurses picket lines. But you can’t side with workers & also support Dems (Mamdani & Hochul) who work for bosses by aiding scabbing on their strike!

He's not attacking landlords, if allied w/ real estate barons. He's not "no to ICE," if he's keeping pro-ICE Tisch. He's not fighting imperialism, Maduro's locked in a NYC dungeon! U admit Zohran isnt accountable 2 DSA. He answers to Dems. We must be independent of him AND DEMS.
The main contradiction DSA will face is that a DSA member in the executive will simultanously open up new space for political activity, while closing others. Attack landlords, but ally with developers. Remove IHRA, but suppress anti-land protests. No ICE, but keep Tisch.

What’s the point of having a socialist mayor if he just says the same shit as Schumer or says nothing at all? DSA left: the time is now, escape from the contradiction and just break already!
no I don’t expect Zohran to be like “LONG LIVE THE RESISTANCE” but he can just like say nothing instead of bending over like he’s taking AIPAC money in suppository form

It’s easy to throw stones at Dems (and they deserve every stone we can throw at them) but talk is cheap. Action is what counts! Mere recognition of Dem hypocrisy won’t build a workers’ party, only a real fight against their defenders in DSA and split with the genocidal Dems will
