A2 Studying history is reading and discussing the stories historians have created about the past. Doing history is identifying questions about the past, researching evidence relevant to answering those questions, then creating your own stories from that evidence. #sschat

Quick reminder ahead of Donald Trump’s speech tonight: He promised that he would “immediately bring prices down, starting on Day 1.” It’s now Day 44. Prices have gone up. Inflation’s gotten worse. And Trump’s done nothing to lower costs for working people.

Today, most of us take for granted abundant food, clean water, energy, and health. But this wasn’t always the case, as @CharlesCMann writes, “In Jefferson’s time, not even the president of the United States had what we have.”

Thomas Jefferson was rich and sophisticated, but his life was closer to the lives of people in the Iron Age than it was to ours.

#DemsUnited #Resist Hey, MAGAs this is what you voted for. We tried to rein in the GOP, save your Medicaid, collect more tax money from billionaires & get tax cuts for less wealthy Americans but the GOP in Congress voted NO. Let’s hope the Senate is not filled with GOP cowards!

McGovern: Democrats offered an amendment to protect Medicaid. Every Republican voted no.  Democrats offered an amendment to extend tax cuts for people making under $400,000 while ensuring that corporations and billionaires pay their fair share. Every Republican voted no.

There are no more Disease Detectives @CDCgov -- the Epidemic Intelligence Service is shut down, kaput. The EIS has for decades been the world's top outbreak investigation unit. So, States -- you're on your own now. Good luck solving mysterious ailments in Alabama.

Speaker Mike Johnson said proxy voting was "unconstitutional" (after he did it himself—39 times.) Last week, GOP Rep. Byron Donalds voted remotely—while in LA. Let's just call that what it is. It's voter fraud. Maybe he thought nobody would notice. I noticed.
