Totally agree. Staff across schools and other educational settings in Cumbria doing a truly amazing job of supporting children, young people and their families during these challenging times @bartonsensei
Many of my very best friends are teachers and school leaders. Unlike me, they haven’t spent a career preparing for being on the front line of a global pandemic. But they are on the front line now. I am in awe of their compassion and patience. Please be kind to them.

I know clapping is no longer a thing -but if it was, we should be applauding Headteachers, leadership teams, teachers, teaching assistants, office/catering/site/cleaning and medical staff, governors & volunteers for their commitment to keeping schools open since March. Thank you.

Wider description of COVID-19 symptoms. Description of cough may be particularly useful.

Once again our amazing local track and trace system does a great job. Proud to have this established in Cumbria. Proud to work with colleagues to deliver it 👍
@Walney_Island @BarrowCouncil @neil_in_barrow @UHMBT @BAES_Maritime BAE notified local track and trace, which was completed within hours of the positive result; co-workers are isolating; local residence notified and all necessary measures taken; public health team in home authority alerted to trace any contacts there. The system is working...

It's very important to do what you can to reduce the risk of you and other people getting ill with coronavirus. You can spread the virus even if you do not have symptoms and outbreaks will happen if people don’t take the right precautions.

Help stop the spread. When local businesses ask for your details, remember to: 📱 Provide a mobile number, rather than landline, if you can 👍 Double check it has been written down correctly ❗ Don’t give fake details We usually contact people via text message from CumbriaCC.

Many new coronavirus cases in Carlisle and Eden relate to house parties or BBQs where there was mixing between groups from multiple households. We urge people to think carefully before holding these types of gathering. You can spread the virus even if you do not have symptoms.

These trends in other countries should dispel any preconceived notion that 2nd waves are just a hypothetical possibility. We need to prepare and maintain our ability to respond to further waves. It's not over yet.
Cases surge in Japan,Australia, Israel & HK. Test+trace &😷help but strong social distancing may still be needed every now & then. Cherish regained freedoms but if we forget social distancing,😷& hand washing, restrictions may ⬆️again before summer ends. https://t.co/cECAGbMSaL

And so say all of us! They got contact tracing going in Cumbria before it re-started nationally and have been at the front line of our approach to outbreak prevention and control. Fantastic work - thank you :-)
Can we have a round of applause for the unsung heroes of Cumbria who have helped to implement and support effective COVID-19 contact tracing for the region 🙌#VirtualBSM @su_currie
