Tyler Redmond '17 continues to thrive as a sophomore defensive back for the Emory & Henry College (Va.) football team. Redmond leads the Wasps (2-0) with 17 tackles (13 solo), and had a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown in Saturday's 52-17 win at Rochester (N.Y.).
So much for a sophomore slump. Christ School alum Tyler Redmond ’17 made a career-high nine tackles for the Emory & Henry (Va.) football team in Saturday’s 45-29 win at Ferrum (Va.). Redmond is a sophomore defensive back for the Wasps (1-0), who do not play again until Sept. 15.

Tray Mauney ‘23 graduated early in December after leading the Greenies past Asheville School for an 11th consecutive year and a playoff win at Charlotte Latin.

Football season is right around the corner! The Greenies were in Cherokee on Tuesday night for a 7-on-7 passing game against the defending state champion Braves. Cherokee's Kinsland Stadium was recently voted the best in western N.C. by readers of the Asheville Citizen-Times.
Jackson Hipp '18 will continue his baseball career at Brown University. And he'll do so as the reigning Carolinas Athletic Association Player of the Year. Jackson is joined on the all-conference team by McKinley Bell '18, Max LeCroy '19, Chad Treadway '19, and Mickey Meguiar '21.

Coast Guard Academy lacrosse gave out its year-end awards recently and Will Iorio '17 did not go home empty-handed. The freshman attacker was named Rookie of the Year after scoring 24 goals to go along with 21 assists. The Bears completed their season May 5 with a 14-4 record.
Congratulations to Max LeCroy '19, who will represent Christ School in the 32nd annual Powerade State Games baseball tournament June 13-17 in Greensboro, N.C. Max was one of 20 western North Carolina players selected to Region 8's roster.
William Fleming ’17 made 15 appearances for Wake Forest University as a true freshman. He is pitching this summer for the Baltimore Redbirds out of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.

The leading scorer for the Western Carolina University men's basketball team was a Greenie this time last year. True freshman Matt Halvorsen '17 is averaging 12.8 points per game for WCU after a career-high 18 in Tuesday's 85-76 loss at UMass.

WLOS ABC 13 stopped giving tours of its Asheville TV studio at the start of the pandemic in 2020, making Thursday’s visit by Christ School the first of any kind in three years.
Fun was had by all Wednesday as the Greenie Council created posters with children at Glen Arden Elementary School. The Greenie Council is Christ School's student-athlete advisory committee, and Wednesday's visit was part of the Council's mentorship program.
It takes a special player to lead his college lacrosse team in scoring as a freshman. We'd say Joey Cinque '17 fits the bill. Christ School's all-time leader for goals (176) put home 30 in his first season for Rollins College out of Winter Park, Fla.
