In a move that could destroy the largest cross in the world, Spain’s government wants to turn the world’s longest basilica into a “museum of the horrors of Franco.”

You know who else isn't a legitimate authority of the Church? The answer may surprise you!
Bishop Pierre Roy out of Canada - formerly a priest with the SSPX - has issued an open letter to the Society. Key quotations below: - "Heretics are not the legitimate authorities of the Church. It is therefore necessary to separate oneself clearly from them and to give full

My most novus ordo opinion is that a guitar is a more fitting instrument for Mass than a piano

I wonder how many people who hold this bizarre reading of the Gospels are also wont to bemoan the effect of conservative rhetoric on society?

In short quoting St. Pius X against Zionism does not at all imply that the modern State of Israel, formed 30+ years after his death, doesn't have a right to exist. "Should it have been formed?" is a separate question entirely.

It seems obvious, but whether the modern State of Israel should have been formed & whether atrocities & war crimes were involved in its formation, do not at all detract from its right to exist today - any more than its right to exist justifies vast aid given it by the USA

(Bluecheck trolls get screencapped) As a canonist then-Cardinal Prevost would certainly have known that Bp. Martin did not meet the canonical requirements to be appointed to the episcopate

The Paul VI liturgy *is* a break with the tradition, and far from deploring this view, then-Card. Ratzinger explained one of the reasons why: "I was dismayed by the banning of the old Missal, seeing that a similar thing had never happened in the entire history of the liturgy."
I try and refer to it as the pre-conciliar or Tridentine Mass. Rita is right: “traditional” implies that the post conciliar liturgy is a break from the tradition. Benedict XVI deplored this view as the “hermeneutic of discontinuity.”

Reminder that Card. Cupich claimed in 2018 that some "insurgents" were opposed to Pope Francis because the latter was "Latino".
Cardinal Blase Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago, has publicly denounced incidents in which some priests were reportedly stopped or questioned also because of the colour of their skin. In an interview with El País, he links these episodes to the current social and political

Yet another reason not to take The Pillar seriously.
@PillarCatholic You ignore the 1951 Decree concerning consecrating a Bishop without a mandate. It applies to "any rite or dignity" and was issued by the Holly Office. It COVERED Slipyj. The 1917 CIC did not. This Decree did.

The Pillar might get some good scoops but I can't take them seriously any more if they really believe Pope Francis gave "ample permissions" to the former Ecclesia Dei groups in the wake of Traditionis Custodes. Tell the ICKSP in Chicago about "ample permissions"! Embarrassing

“Logic!” said the Professor, half to himself. “Why don’t they teach logic at these schools?”
