The counter protest is now also winding down. Just a handful remain. Some police officers are also leaving but there is still a sizeable police presence in the square

The Britain First rally has now concluded and most of the attendees have dispersed. There didn’t appear to be any formal march back through the city centre

The Britain First rally is continuing outside Central Library. A small group have moved into the centre of the square and are waving flags and chanting towards the counter-protesters, who are chanting back at them. They are separated by a large number of officers

It is currently estimated there are around 600 people at the Britain First rally and around 400 on the counter-protest side.

The counter- protesters are then stood behind police lines and fencing on the other side of the tram tracks. They are chanting ‘Manchester is anti-fascist’ and ‘say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here’

The Britain First rally is currently taking place outside Central Library. A woman on the microphone just said ‘there will no violence, no rioting, no damage to property.’

Both the British First group (left) and the ‘anti-fascist’ counter-protesters (on the right) are now just a few hundred metres apart on opposite sides of St Peter’s Square

The march is currently coming up Piccadilly before turning down Portland Street.

A speaker is playing ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ whilst there are chants for the far-right activist Tommy Robinson.

I’m told there are currently between 500 and 600 people gathered on Wyre Street for the Britain First march. A large number of union flags are being waved and some smoke bombs have just been let off

There is also a large police presence in and around Piccadilly Gardens

There is a larger counter-protest also being held in Piccadilly Gardens (these pictures were taken at around 11:30am)

They are banging a drum and singing ‘Nazi scum off our streets’

A small group of counter-protesters are currently being held on the opposite side of London Road by the police. They are holding a banner which says: ‘Manchester is ant-fascist.’
