*I tried to find a positive headline about London’s equity capital market but couldn’t find one. So instead I’m posting an uplifting photo of the Lower Manhattan skyline from a walk I took first thing. Remember: the sun also rises and outlook for 2024 is much brighter.

Overall equity capital raising was up around 36% in the US and 28% in the UK. @LSEplc also exceeded the equity capital raising totals for @ASX and @HKEXGroup by c. 30% and @TMXGroup by c. 60%.

There is an understandable fixation on #IPO volumes but 2023 was a historically weak year for this on pretty much every major exchange. Signs point to a much stronger 2024. As I’ve mentioned before, the main point of being a public company is swift access to follow-on capital.
