QUESTION. Baltimore City Schools’ CEO is now in her 10th year. Since 2016, attendance, SAT scores, dropout rates, chronic absenteeism, federal test scores have worsened. The district points to some progress. Is the system better or worse since ‘16?. Link.

Update: THANKS MARYLAND. State vehicle emissions tests, on July 1, increased from $14 to $30. My annual vehicle registration increased from $161.50/year to $191.50/year. I now pay $413 every two years (+22%) for one vehicle. AND Marylanders pay a 47/cent gas tax (7th highest).

THANKS MARYLAND. I drive a Ram 1500. With Maryland’s new vehicle fee increases, here’s how much it will cost me YEARLY to register my vehicle compared to other states. MD: $191.50.PA: $39.VA: $30.75.DE: $40.WV: $51.50.FL: $45.60. Is it just me, or does this seem excessive?.

RESULTS. Baltimore City Schools CEO is Maryland’s HIGHEST paid school district leader. And she oversees the state’s LOWEST performing district. During the CEO’s tenure, most student metrics have worsened (SAT scores, dropout rate, attendance, etc). Link.

IMPORTANT FOLLOW UP… . In 2023, (as Maryland was heading towards its current fiscal crisis and the legislature was focus on restricting gun rights) keep this in mind. The following year, in 2024, many of the new gun laws passed in 2023 were found UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

WHY is Maryland struggling financially?. Remember back in 2023. The legislature's TOP priority (Senate Bill #1) was restricting gun rights-following the Supreme Court's Bruen decision. It seems Annapolis was not focused on revenue/spending. Are we now paying the price?.

TOUGH TIMES:. This week, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, announced a state hiring freeze/buyouts, citing historic fiscal challenges. The state needs to save $121M. This comes AFTER Annapolis raised taxes/fees by $1.6 BILLION earlier this year. Seems it wasn't enough. What's next?.

QUESTION:. Can Baltimore businessman Ed Hale defeat Wes Moore in next year’s Democratic primary for Maryland Governor?. Moore appears to have hopes for higher office. Even if Hale loses, it’s often considered a bad look for incumbents to be challenged within their own party.

"I don't think the schools are doing a good job for the students today," Ed Hale told Project Baltimore during an interview. The Baltimore businessman plans on running for the democratic nomination for Governor, with education as a key priority. @chrispapst @FOXBaltimore

160 DAYS AGO, I requested records from the Maryland Judiciary related to public safety. I STILL do not have them. The Judiciary appears to be in violation of its own disclosure rules. I emailed Maryland Chief Justice Matthew Fader asking if this is acceptable. He didn’t respond.

QUESTION:. On July 1, Marylanders will pay MORE for vehicle emissions tests. Now, it costs $14. It could go to $30. Cars newer than 25 yrs must pass emissions. Many older cars do not. Isn't it the older cars that need emissions tests? Why do we test new cars? They rarely fail.
