We're so early and there are so many, that there are actually no queues for the toilets this year. #GreatNorthRun #GNR2024

Chris can't scale the physical heights like he once did, but his sense of adventure is undiminished and his latest quest is to help fulfil a promise made to the Sherpa community by Doug Scott before he died. Have a wonderful day Sir Chris! . 2/2

Happy 90th birthday to living legend Sir Chris Bonington. Not only does Chris have a climbing CV that's up there with the best (and goes back to 1951!), he's also an excellent human being, who I've been fortunate to know for over 25 years, working with @TheRealBerghaus. 1/2.

The Northumberland Coastal Run - my favourite event of the year. What a route! It was warm this morning, which added to the challenge, but also made the setting look even more glorious as I trotted along. A cheeky top 20 finish was a bonus. 😀. Thanks @alnwickharriers. #ukrunchat

Mrs Lines and I enjoyed a great evening with a bona fide sporting legend, and @Daley_thompson (and some North East athletics stars) on the eve of @durhamcityrun. 😃. Hunt out 'Daley Thompson - Olympic Superstar' on BBC iPlayer. It's brilliant and a proper trip down memory lane.

The Lines clan has done its democratic duty, including our two first time General Election voters. Berry was on hand to make sure that we all followed the correct process. #GeneralElection2024    #dogsatpollingstations

It was a lively election campaign in South Durham, including a riot in Darlington, and plenty of accusations of underhand tactics. And all followed by a betting scandal a couple of years later. What goes around comes around!. 2/2.

Thanks to @Echochrislloyd, who has written a fascinating (and very timely) feature on the two 1841 General Election posters that I acquired a while back, thanks to Brockwell Books of Chesterfield. 1/2

The @KeswickFestival is back after a break. It was officially opened by students from Keswick School, who have created some colourful windsocks and flags to celebrate the festival, and Kirkby Stephen School pupils got the sporting action underway. Pics by Route North Photography.

Well worth the long trek into our back garden. Aurora Borealis with guest appearances by Ursa Major, Bootes (the bright star) and a generally unimpressed Bez. #NorthernLights #Auroraborealis #aurora

RT @theiaincameron: I despair. The Ben Nevis summit shelter is, as the name suggests, a refuge for people who may require it in an emergenc….

This is the result of my visit to Chez Bonington earlier this week. The BBC Cumbria team has done a great job, combining @Mike_Zeller1's interview with archive photos and footage. Lovely!.
Sir Chris Bonington has spent decades climbing the world's mountains. Now living in Cumbria he will turn 90 this year, with 2025 marking 50 years since he first climbed Everest.

Really looking forward to following this young man's career, mainly in anticipation of the story arc that sees him cost his side a game, then secure a dramatic win in the next fixture. Which cricket scribe will first bag the headline 'Shashank Redemption'?
