This is an admittedly harsh question @jaysonst but has anyone before Tommy Kahnle been the losing pitcher in their team’s final postseason game for 2 different teams in consecutive seasons? Or even for the same team?

We don’t yet know the names of the 67 people we were killed, and you are blaming Democrats and DEI policies and Air Traffic Control and, seemingly, the member of the US military flying that Black Hawk helicopter. Don't you think you're getting ahead of the investigation? Trump:

Being able to hide $154 million in expenses and not be caught over the course of 3 years. Sounds like that qualifies as the current version of a miracle on 34th Street.

First house I ever bought in Indiana in 1992 was only $60,000. Working on a story now about how the avg price of a new car is now nearly $50,000. It occurred to me are probably folks paying more for cars than their 1st home cost. If you know anyone who fits that bill, let me know

Such a great story by @allisondmorrow. Anyone who can work attacks on Suez Canal ship traffic, the danger of counterfeit weight loss drugs & labor intensive wedding dress alterations in a single story has certainly hit the reporting and writing Trifecta.
cnn.com
Price distortions and dysfunction are nothing new in the $73 billion wedding industry. But the explosion of weight-loss drugs in the 2020s has created an extra snag for the seamstresses and designers...

For years, China was where global automakers went to sell cars and make money. No longer. Great overview of the change in world's most important market for cars by @hannaziady
cnn.com
Foreign automakers have dominated China’s car market for decades, selling millions of vehicles and raking in enormous profits. That golden era is now coming to an abrupt end.

It really is time to fire him. The June swoon is turning into a rest of the season swoon for the third straight year. You shouldn't get a third chance to show you're the person to pull the team out of it. Boone is not *the* problem but he absolutely is *a* problem.
"It feels terrible...but it's all right there in front of us. This is not the time to feel sorry for yourself, it's the time to try and get guys going." - Aaron Boone on the Yankees' 6-16 stretch

Four starts ago when he shutdown KC, Rodon looked like he could be going to the All Star game. He was 9-2 and 2.93 ERA. Now the only way he goes is as home run derby pitcher.

Do you believe the "miracle" of artificial intelligence is going to make it difficult to believe what you see or hear? Yes! That's not Al Michaels you'll hear giving you Olympic recaps on NBC this summer.
cnn.com
NBC is bringing a version of famed sportscaster Al Michaels back to the Olympics this summer with an unlikely twist: His voice will be powered by artificial intelligence.

Sad. Chicago was always one of the great newspaper towns on the planet. What has happened to print newspaper industry is a massive loss for this country.
The last newspapers ever to be printed in the City of Chicago. Cheers to the Chicago Tribune Pressmen and Presswomen who made this miracle happen every night at the Freedom Center. -30-

Since start of streaming, Northern Exposure has been on the list of shows I most wanted to be able to stream. This week my wishes were answered. Just watching the first couple of episodes is like getting together once again with a bunch of good friends I haven’t seen in years.

Love Seth Meyers' opening bits. None more than his "In Other News" segment last night that was so thoughtful and so well written. Yeah, it was funny too, but that was the least important thing that it was. Watch it.

So decided to get away from work and a busy 6 months of covering strikes and labor issues and watch an episode of sci-fi alternate history series I've been following, For All Mankind. Spoiler alert - tonight's episode is about a strike on Mars.

Hyman Roth was right. Most casino operators today are more valuable than the $14.1B value of the the deal for US Steel. So is FanDuel. And yet there isn't even a plaque, or a signpost or a statue of him in that town.
Michael, we’re bigger than US Steel. Japan’s Nippon Steel buying US Steel for nearly $15 billion. $55 a share. Solid premium. $X up 28% #premarket. cc: @chrisidore
