🤧 A hefty plume of Saharan Dust will likely push into Florida by the weekend… This would lead to lower air quality and possible irritation of respiratory conditions. On the bright side, the dust is currently playing a large role in inhibiting tropical activity!

Dr. Harvey C. Hayes (as it turns out, a distant relation) worked for @USNRL in the 20th century; he had a Mid-Atlantic Ridge fracture zone named after him. Later @altagliabue et al. visited the site. My 1st PhD student, Neil Redmond, made a thesis chapter using it; what a world!

I'm excited to give a talk today @UofR . It's currently 7°F and the weather says something about "heavy freezing spray", but that's OK because we get to talk about the tropical Pacific!
