The outer bands of Hurricane Melissa continue to batter southern sections of Jamaica. Strong winds continue to topple light posts. There is also an increasing storm surge. Meanwhile, southwestern sections of the island are grappling with high winds and torrential rains.

8am update #Melissa is just offshore St. Elizabeth, still packing winds of 175mph and moving a little faster now at 7mph to the NNE. Conditions to continue to deteriorate until this evening. Pray for our friends and family in western Jamaica 🙏🏾
