A long @chesspublishing day, but much of interest in the next column! Here's a Trompowsky line White should avoid - yes, Harry did go all the way to f2, @ginger_gm! - as well as the brutal 15...c5! from Hebden-Smirin at @london_chess. If 16 Nxc5? Nc6 or 16 Qxc5 Qa6!. Ouch. #chess

Mainly a @chesspublishing PM, with lots from #eccc2025, including the instructive Badelka-Tsolakidou. In the first diagram, Black needed to find 21...c5! to avoid drifting into big trouble. The second shows a variation where 30 Qa3! isn't novel, but is striking and strong! #chess

My latest @chesspublishing article is up ➡️ https://t.co/kAPME4kc48 ⬅️ I have concentrated on some new and interesting ideas in the Stonewall Dutch. A taster for my forthcoming 'Lifetime Repertoire - Stonewall Dutch' @chessable course. 👍

Latest d-pawn specials update finally finished for @chesspublishing! Lots of hard-fought games to enjoy. Not just Gukesh-Erdogmus, but Demchenko-Mamedyarov, also from #FIDEGrandSwiss, which saw a positionally critical exchange sacrifice then narrow escape for White! #chess

@ginger_gm was a bit busy this week with his exciting new @TakeTakeTakeApp #TitledTuesday duties, so I've stepped in to write about 'Daring Dilemmas' for @chesspublishing! High-level Grünfelds, the odd Dutch and even a Budapest appear, where, yes, Black did get in ...Ra6! #chess

Latest @chesspublishing column is up, featuring a crisp win by @GMPeteWells and lots of drama, not least Heimisson-Aveskulov, where both sides appeared to miss major resources (10 Qa4 after 9...0-0 and 18...Na7 after 18 Nd2-c4). @DGukesh vs @Vachier_Lagrave was also wild! #chess

@richardpalliser @ginger_gm @chesspublishing Oh my goodness that’s like the Leela gambit against 1.b3: 1…e5 2.Bb2 Nc6 3.e3 e5 4.Bb5 Nge7!? Pretty strong too - I did a NIC article on it and I think @GMGawain has played it too! Never occurred to me in this line! Cool! 😊😊😊

This afternoon in Liverpool, @ginger_gm faces Steven Jones, who so impressed at the 2023 British in Leicester. Standing in for Simon at @chesspublishing, I've focussed on the Benko and English Defence, where 5 Nge2!? is a trendy modern gambit. It looks shocking, but works! #chess

Latest @chesspublishing column is up as I stand in for @ginger_gm! Instructive play from Nihal Sarin and @MagnusCarlsen, but I rather fancy that Simon will most enjoy the Dutch hack - sorry, meistering - that was Di Benedetto-Moussard! #chess

Enjoying @ginger_gm and #GrandChessTour breaks from proofing today! And my latest @chesspublishing column is up! It features a fine rook sacrifice from @GmNaroditsky, lots on the 2 Bf4 g6 3 Nc3 London and a fine piece of meistering from a Ukrainian GM in Kostov-Bernadskiy. #chess

Standing in for @ginger_gm with the May Daring Defences @chesspublishing update, I've covered wins by the classical star of 2025, @rpraggnachess, as well as Magnus, and enjoyed @LeelaChessZero and @stockfishchess serving up another exciting duel with, yes, an early h2-h4! #chess

Thanks to @simon_ansell, I can reveal my latest @chesspublishing column is my 250th update! 🫢 It's already online and contains some very dramatic games, not least Xu Xiangyu - Yu Shaoteng, h/t @TelegraphChess. Absolute madness! #chess

We learn about the 'Tang' gambit @penguingm1 (not the 'Hong' gambit Vlad...) and also the 'Noro' gambit (named after Yaacov Norowitz). Both crazy and fun lines for Black 🤠.
My latest article for @chesspublishing is out🙂 - https://t.co/kAPME4jEeA This took quite some time! I have concentrated on early gambit lines for Black involving ...e5 against 1 d4. So: 1 d4 e5?! 1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 e5 3 dxe5 Ne4 with ...d6!? as the quick follow up 1 d4 d5 2 c4 e5

My March update for @chesspublishing Daring Defences is now up 👉 https://t.co/kAPME4jEeA. I look at 4 games in the English Defence and 4 radical ways of playing against the Grunfeld. The 9 g4 novelty, as shown below, is a great idea that puts one opening variation into doubt.

Mainly a @chesspublishing weekend, with the latest column including a win for Artur Yusupov with his favourite Colle-Zukertort. Also notable was Ivan Cheparinov struggling against the Tromp - Heberla-Cheparinov #eicc2025 was brutal and a good advert for The Tricky Tromp! #chess

I also analyse the 'Rosen' system! 🤯 A fascinating and aggressive attempt at destroying the Dutch with a quick g4. As played by the ever-creative @IM_Rosen. Sign up to @chesspublishing to keep up with the latest opening trends. https://t.co/kAPME4jEeA

I have just completed my February update for @chesspublishing. In this update, I explain my preferred way of playing the Dutch Defence against the ever-popular London System. 🤜 https://t.co/n82jqVyRBr 🤛 Want to attack the London System? This could be for you!

Sam Shankland won a fine game with the London at @PragueChess, so I'm feeling a little bad about my latest @chesspublishing update, which features a truly wicked trap from @IM_Rosen! Rosen-Shankland from @chesscom #TitledTuesday. Can you spot why 10...cxb2 loses? #chess

Latest @chesspublishing column just dispatched! Some instructive encounters from @tatasteelchess, not least Suleymanli-Divya, where White was allowed to go h4-h5-h6 and later won thanks to that cramping h-pawn. I suspect AlphaZero approved, @gmmds? #chess
